Wisper I’m a new member, get me out of here!

Hi Paul, Is your front brake hydraulic? If so then what you describe is about right, you don't get the same solid feel as with cable but they work very well. There is often an adjuster on the reservoir that will alter the bite point. As for your saddle stem woes, I think you'll probably need...

Ideas for comfortable (+ reasonably priced!) saddle

See - it's so individual. For me they're the right width for my 'sit bones' and the ventilation works a treat. I get little or no 'unfortunate area' tingling with this saddle. I bought this saddle as a cheap try before buying a Brookes, never needed to.

Ideas for comfortable (+ reasonably priced!) saddle

I agree - the only comfortable saddle is the one that suits you. I punted £7.99 on a Medicus Gel from Lidl's. Who'd a thunk? It's the best saddle I've ever had.

    Hiya all. Big/heavy newbie.

Conversion is a great way to go. You are more invested in the bike as a whole. If you were to use a rear hub you would overcome the slight downside of the Big Bear (it's a front hub and can be a little tricksy on loose surfaces) and gain a lot of knowledge in the process. You end up with a...

Vintage voltage on quest tv Dplay

Had they chosen a Triumph or a Norton they wouldn't have had that huge gap in the frame. Enfields were well known for the engine making the bottom of the frame. It wasn't common then - not sure it is now. Used to own a 250 Continental GT, lovely little bike with superb handling, used to out...

    Hiya all. Big/heavy newbie.

My wife has a Big Bear (older model). Yes it's a real torquey motor, the bike itself is no gazelle and built like a tank...Front hub motor renders it more suited to roads with some tracks, old railways, paths etc., not really suited to off road. It will climb steep hills with plenty of input...

Taxpayer-funded electric bikes to get more cyclists on roads

PV solar panels were a case in point. I had a 1.75KW systems installed just before the end of the origional feed in tarrif scheme. It meant I got tax free paymrnts of around 50p/unit for the next 25 years. The install cost me £7k. My neighbour had a full 4KW system installed about 6 months...

Bye bye trolley buses (years past) - Hello trolley lorries

I have fond childhood memories of the trolley bus system in and around Walsall. However i also remember the extensive system of poles, wires and support cables. It wasn't pretty. Surely, despite claimed inefficiencies, hydrogen power is the way to go. Much more autonomous vehicles in terms of...

    Replacement Battery

On the left hand side of this thread you'll see and advert for e-bike batteries. Click the link and click 'Recell'. They will arrange courier pick up, recell the battery with quality cells and courier it back to you. Godd service used by many on here including myself.

Another perk for your Member of Parliament.

It's amazin' how it goes isn't it? My wife used to be an Occupational Therapist for social services. It was part of her contract of employment that she had to have a serviceable vehicle for home visits. As she ripped the exhaust off a standard saloon, going down farm and rough tracks, we...

Hello From The Hills of the North Weald!

Never ridden a Haibike so this is conjecture. However the system you have is torque sensing, so it gives you assist proportional to the effort it senses you putting in. Obviously, when going up hill, you use a higher gear so that it's easier for you, also to keep the motor in the right rev...

    Bike service

Hi Jack, As explained above it is unlikely that a local bike shop will have anything to do with your bike. They are mostly only interested in what they see as 'proper bikes' (expensive road bikes) and won't want to go near electrics. As Nealh explained the jobs really are pretty basic and if...

Extending arm to reduce chance of been hit by overtaking car

I also employ the, 'I'm a meandering, inattentive idiot' look. Whilst keeping an eye on my mirror I meander and insist on going round pot holes and manhole covers. Also I make it obvious that I'm apparently looking at the fields and trees. If I see/hear someone approaching fast I throw in a...

    Post covid apocalypse

They print it ! They get banks and pension funds to buy bonds which say, ' Lend us your money and we'll pay it back in X years'. When X years arrive they don't have the money to pay back ('cos they're in debt) so they borrow more, or print it. If the gov needs to borrow £1billion but can...

    Hello!

Hi Colin, Given what you've said about your friends spin rate I would avoid crank drive, as previously said they can dictate cadence level. Also on the noise issue, a rear hub is shielded by the riders body, they therefore appear much quieter, although a following rider will hear it. Different...

    Hello!

Hi Colin, Both are capable of hill climbing, the higher torque hubs are pretty awesome. Cranks drives have both the advantage and disadvantage of using the gearing. Using the bikes gearing to keep the motor in it's rev range ensures cool efficient running and battery use. Does require some...

    are my dropout too big?

My bad ! Didn't realise they only do 14x10. Lookes at their site but torque arms aren't mentioned at all, seems they only sell them on e-bay.

    length of lockdown?

I live in Wales and we have, of course, different rules/advice to England. I live in Ceredigion which you can't get to from England without passing through significant other chunks of Wales first. Never the less our county council, in their wisdom, has now removed the 'Visit Ceredigion Later'...
