    Portable Soldering Iron

I've been using one of these for years. Can't set the temperature though, just turn it on and use it, but then I'm not doing delicate electronics...

    Woosh Rio rear wheel question.

The gears may need indexing and the stops adjusting. If you google deraileur indexing there are loads of how to video's.

    Power cutting out

I think what vfr is getting at is that of the 6 prongs not all may have cables on. Some use just the outer two as +ve and -ve, as yours does. But some use the other 4 prongs as comms links between battery and controller. He's trying to ascertain if your bike is one of these.

Help! Advice on Ebike for chronically ill human

Hi Travis and welcome. Whatever bike you eventually end up with I would recommend that the control system is pas based. PAS = peddle assist sensing. What this means is that the system senses the rotation of the peddles and provides power at the level set on the display. You can, if needed due...

    Lithium bike battery charging

This subject has been covered ad nauseum, and generally ends up in some sort of bun fight. If your battery needs the switch to be on to charge, then do so, otherwise turn it off as the bms will consume power when not in use. Charge it- use it. Don't leave it fully charged without use for...

    New to ebikes

Just a thought. If you could get the front off the light, there may be a pair of accesable wires feeding it. Cut one and put a switch on it. Maybe drill the bottom of the housing and handlebar mount it? Dunno - a garden shed workaround maybe?

Post Covid, more cycle lanes ?

It's likely that the focus will be on urban area's and, if history is a guide, box ticking local authorities will be getting the paint brush out and creating more lanes of death that merely allow vehicles to pass dangerously close with impunlty. Maybe one should start a firm making "Cyclists...

    Nothing like binding your time

WHAT? That's an outrageous statement. I've only got an e bike 'cos my wife got one first and I couldn't keep up. As for lifting them over a gate - you try it:D

Raleigh Array Kit - a Good Base for a Fast Tourer?

Hi and welcome. Some pictures of the bike and the kit will be useful. You say the pas sensor is damaged, in what way, give us a photo? What makes you say the throttle is only set up for short bursts, this could be indicative of a previous duff battery? AFAIK twist throttles won't fit drops...

    Conversion kit.

I'm afraid weight goes with electric bikes, most are in the 19kg+ region. If you buy a kit complete from one supplier it will be plug and play. If you go for a hub conversion the most technical bit will be removing one crank to fit the peddle assist sensor ring - plenty of help to be had here...

WANTED: E-bike insights to help student research project

For me e biking is an extension of utility/leisure cycling. As such I want a machine that I can maintain and repair myself. Therefore I ride a hub motored machine with generic electrical components, that is to say I can replace anything with off the shelf items. I am not interested in...

    Charger Oddity

I have a YZpower 2A charger, it's a small one with a fan in it. I bought it as a replacement for a blown Sans one Jimmy supplied with a soft pack battery he built for me. About half way through a charge this one starts to, intermittantly, go green. If I even touch the output lead (not even...

    Legality of Battery voltage.

Many moons ago (in the 70's) I worked for BT, in fact so long ago it was still the GPO. The exchange equipment worked on 50v dc and everyone was well aware of it's powers to, for instance, contract one's bowels or cause severe burns. Of course, depending on the size of the exchange, this could...

Wisper Any thing I need to know?

Welcome Matt. Wisper, nice bikes and company has good customer service rep on here. Where panniers are concerned, I have some that hook over the top rail of the carrier with an elasticated bottom hook, so you just lift and unhook at the shops. They are Axiom, not the cheapest but are roll top...

Help! Pulsating motor Babboe Pro Trike E

What is the clunking sound? It's hard to tell what you mean by pulsing, however, have you checked the pas disc. It needs to run parallel to the sensor head - no wobble- and at 1-3mm distance.

    Wisper 805fe battery

Earlier bikes were 24v, how old is it? The motor would be alright on 36v however the controller wouldn't, there are capacitors in it rated for 24 and will release the magic blue smoke if 36 is applied. He would need a new controller/display combo fitted before usung the 36v battery.

    Tingling hands

I already had a stem height extension with a standard forward reach (about 2ins I think).. However, the way Mary bars are configured they bend forward before the sweep back so your hands end up in about the same position as before, just angled inwards. As a plus my Caradice handlebar box still...
