Power cuts out as soon as load increases

It's worth having a look at the motor connections - nothing to loose. However it is starting to sound like you may have something wrong with the controller.

Power cuts out as soon as load increases

Is the motor running smoothly with no more noise than before? The reason I ask is that you said it failed after pullig a heavy load. Is it possible that the motor connector has gone resitive on one phase causing heat? When this happened on my bike the controller was more prone to overheat...

    Ezee Charging problem

Eight years old is certainly going some, I think you've had your money out of it. Sounds like another job for Jimmy. He did mine with Boston Power swing cells - think it was in the £250 region.

Power cuts out as soon as load increases

So what voltage does it charge up to and can you measure the voltage when it cuts out? The symptoms you describe are classic for a duff battery. How long was it in storage and in what conditions?.

    New here looking for advise

Fair cop, it does look fairly mullered ! Neal knows more about specific controllers than me. However almost any 36v matching controller and disply will do it, it's a matter of trying to match plugs if you want to avoid a lot of soldering.

    Advice on e-conversion for a kid's kart

The 13A rating is merely the continuous rating of the motor, so 36v*13A=468w. The continuous rating is not what the motor takes but what it can run continuously at without overheating. As Neal pointed out your controller is rated 30Amax, this is what it will attempt to deliver to the motor on...

    New here looking for advise

Before spending your hard earned, are you sure the controller is duff? What's happening or not happening? What's the battery voltage measuring at?

How old is the battery? Do you know what cells are in it?

    Juicybike FATBOY ELECTRIC CONVERSION 1500W

Have a look at Woosh bikes kits, specifically the BPM. These are torquey geared hub motors and seriously good at hills. They are specced for the larger person. Whilst not strictly legal ('cos it's rated either at 350w or 500w - I don't remember) it does at least look the part. Combined with a...

Advice about buying an electric bike to transport two children in a trailer

Hi Chem, Realistically you're looking at 5-600 pounds for a conversion. There are cheaper ones (especially on fleabay)but they are cheap for a reason. Direct drive motors(no good for hills), dodgy electronics and poor low quality batteries. I know it seems a lot as an up front cost but...

    Dolf, old but new

Most hub motors are cadence sensing, and you're right you only have to ghost peddle. I have an intermittant dodgy right knee and I can get home by 'one leg' peddaling. Have a look at Woosh, Juicy and wisper bikes. They're all UK suppliers but all do step through and hybrid bikes. I'm not sure...

    Hello

Hi Lurch, saw your other post. If the power is cutting out under power it is probably the battery cells. Battery should charge to 41.5 - 42v region. Take a measurement after it has fully charged and rested for about an hour. Use the bike to cut out then measure the voltage again, at this point...

    Juicybike FATBOY ELECTRIC CONVERSION 1500W

Those 1500w motors are direct drive rather than geared hubs. As such they are renown for being very heavy on batteries. At low speed or on hills they are inefficient and will turn a lot of power drawn from the battery into heat. So good only on flat rides with little stop start and at speed...

Any need for brake sensors? Gear selectors fouling throttle

Brake cut out is a safety feature when a throttle is fitted. It is possible for throttle to go faulty and go full on. How do you stop? Also brake cutoff is very handy when approaching a junction and wanting to go down through the gears, useful too for low speed manouvering or pedestrian areas...

    Ezee Charging problem

Well, let's review. You have battery voltage (or nearly) appearing on the charge socket pins. So no broken connection there. The cells are well balanced, no low group to stop charge, also no apparent broken connection. The charge fuse was OK. From Neal's last post the only other thing I can...

    Bike Repair Stand

Yeh, it's the same, but the front hub unbalances it and causes the head of the stand to turn in it's clamp. The Big Bear is one heavy bike.

Ah bummer! I don't know how or if you can test a bms or how to replace. Let's hope Neal comes along.
