    Which bike for off-road?

I think it could be quite fun though, as you'd get a kick down effect when the motor was beginning to struggle on steep hills - how pleasing would that be? :D Thinking about it, you might need some kind of indexing (three positions maybe?), or automatic shift, as dealing with that as well as...

    Which bike for off-road?

Perhaps a nuvinci style CVT insted of orbial gears with teeth? This way a rider can adjust the torque to suit the speed and keep the motor's actual rpm in the most efficient range? To help this you could even have mph markings as guide on the CVT twist control.

    Setting a Standard?

Totally agree, along with connectors and controller/motor wiring colour definitions :) .

    Availability of 2010 ebikes

I should also add that overall my bike has been one of the best purchases I've ever made, and it suits my needs very well. I don't regret the outlay one little bit btw, particularly when thinking of the unfailing after sales support I've received.

    Rim Flare

Why not just phone SJS and see who they recommend as a courrier, and how the motor should be packed?

    Availability of 2010 ebikes

I've always assumed the reason why ebike manufacturers use brake levers by the likes of Tektro, Wuxing and Promax, was that they produce units with the integrated cut out switches required for use on pedelecs. Unless there's adoption of cable mounted (in-line) pressure switches or magnetic reed...

    Which bike for off-road?

I may be talking nonsense (no change there :D ), but if the rider is not working hard enough on a loose surface, could this not cause the front wheel to slip because of the increased drag of the rear wheel. What I mean is, does the 2-wheel drive model not fail if the wheels become out of sync...

    Which bike for off-road?

It really sounds like someone should comission flecc's idea of a motor that is both geared and direct drive, either switchable on request or automatically. I'm sure he'll correct me, but I think the theory is that it's geared for hill climbing, and direct for speed.

Beijingers get back on their bikes

Sound familiar?:D I would hope that as cars have been ubiquitous for longer, that we have gotten over this here in Europe.

Beijingers get back on their bikes

Could you imagine the uptake here if this were the case, I know that a lot of Chinese bikes use SLAs for their home market - but still... I also know about all the other ecconomic differences, but maybe the time has come for a totaly UK manufactured machine, particularly with the £ being so...

    Which bike for off-road?

Ok, I'm provoked :D I have a Wisper with a Bafang motor, and find it very handy on hills. The best speed for this is around 10mph, which once reached is easy to maintain by standing on the pedals in the right gear. Anything faster or slower than this, and I'm struggling to maintain a...

    Fastest climber?

This is why I was wondering why an existing ebike manufacturer doesn't make their frames available in this way (logo'd or not), as if someone's going to replicate your style, then they may as well do it properly, and you may as well get some financial compensation. If you think that the clones...

    Brake lights

Nice to see these available in the UK, interestingly enough - I was recently reading an article on ES written by someone who's used the switches from these lights as brake cut-outs, so negating the need for brake levers with the switches intergrated. Endless-sphere.com • View topic -...

    Alien GS 2

This is great to hear as I've just recommended Alien to a friend who is considering 'going E' on a budget, he's at least 6' so I thought the GS2 would be perfect :) .

    Fastest climber?

Ok, but do you take my point with regard for the need for an ebike specific frame? Most people who retrofit their bikes won't take the care to re-brand them as you did with your q-bike, which leads me to wonder what the likes of Brompton et al think when they see their machines being...

    Connecting Lighting to 36v Battery

To go off at a slight tangent, my main light to see by is dynamo powered, and so syphons off a little of the available energy to work (both from me and the motor). The principle advantage being that even if the batteries were flat, I could still see my way home. I'm lucky though, in that my bike...

    Fastest climber?

Another thought I had to enable some sort redress in the 'clone wars', was to ask why Wisper doesn't make their 905/906 frames available for kit builders? These could have the logo on them without fear of brand damage, after all every other bike component proudly proclaims its manufacturer. I...

    Fastest climber?

For the record, the connector on the Wisper 2008 battery pack isn't compatible with the standard IEC C13/14 kettle lead, as what would be the earth pin is 90 degrees out of line. In fact I've no idea what it actualy is - it would seem not any of the standard IEC types. There's a candidate...

Out of interest David, have you ever considered licencing the 905 frame design to the makers of the clones? This way you could at least make some cash out of what appears to be an uncontainable trend, maybe even get some free advertising if you insisted they had a "frame by Wisper" mark. I'm...
