    Change in e-bike legislation

So how far would you like to see transport policy devolved? To local councils, so that it could be tailored to an individual area? After all, no two counties in the U.K. are the same. The downside being that an individual would have to research the particular rules of other places when they...

Battery re-cell with Maplins Hybrid D cells

I'm using these hybrid cells in my battery lights now, and so far I think they're far superiour to my old rechargables, given that cars are dipping their lights whilst further away than ever before. The only thing I don't know is how long they'll last at this level of performance, but for the...

    Change in e-bike legislation

You never know though, in the present and future times of austerity, there's a hope that people may realise that their bodies are capable of more than fornication and consumption......sorry, I said that out loud didn't I?:D

    Change in e-bike legislation

I agree, and my reading of the proposed legislation change makes me believe that in practical terms the only deviation from what you say is that a throttle would only be able to work whilst pedalling, unless you're travelling below 6km/h. Perhaps a different type of ebike could be produced, or...

    Change in e-bike legislation

Also, the proposed new legislation would make this situation impossible, as you're hardly pedalling whilst at a standstill in a queue of traffic... Personally, the only thing I have against brake cut-outs is that it restricts your choice of brake lever, if only someone would invent an in-line...

How does the controler limit 'speed' ?

My '08 Wisper also has the speed capped at the controller, as it has the option to uncap it via the green button, don't know whether it's still limiting to 19/20mph, or if this is simply the limit of the motor.

    Change in e-bike legislation

But it realistically makes no difference whether the assistance power level is controlled via +/- buttons or via a continuously variable twist grip, it's essentially doing the same thing, just both will require the pedals to be turning in order to supply energy at the rider's chosen level to the...

    Change in e-bike legislation

Forgive me if I'm wrong, but the proposals don't explicitly ban the use of throttles, the stipulation is that the pedals must be turning in order for the motor to provide assistance. So you can still have a throttle, simply acting as a variable assist control, overriding a minimal pedal...

    Non Presteigne 2010 chatter

I've found that with the Bafang motor, the weight issue isn't a relevant as it may first appear. I often ride with a pannier that is as least as heavy as my 14Ah battery, and the difference between this and riding with no luggage is hardly appreciable, apart from on steep gradients...

    Help!!!!!!!

Hey Old Timer:) Might these be what you need for your Hall sensor wires? As found by another member in an earlier discussion - NB. you have to order the pins sepparately from the housngs as they don't come together. Theyre not waterproof, but maybe with some heatshrink...

    Oh No!!! not again

Well, call me insane and perhaps masochistic, but I rather like wintry conditions (been trying to persuade my sun-loving partner into moving to Iceland - but she won't go for it for some reason  :D ). It looked like a promising snowfall was on the cards this morning, but it's sadly...
