    Assist vs pure

Hi - I think it's fair to say that the vast majority of pedal assist ebikes have detachable , and therefore swappable, batteries. Usually mounted in the frame like the Bosch system or on the rack Some also go behind the seatpost requiring a longer frame which doesn't suit everyone Take a look...

    Advice Please! New Folding Elec-Tri-Cycle!

You have a few issues already here I'm afraid 1) it's not a bicycle or tricycle by European law . You cannot pedal it unpowered it so cannot be one.. 2) is it a mobility scooter ? In whi case they are legally limited to 4mph on pavements 3) if it is neither of the above then it is a...

What speed could a 250 watt motor go?

Interesting comparison but not really comparing like for like - at least doesn't appear so to me . Wiggo can peak over 1500watts. The ebike can't. Plus wiggo puts it through the gears. A hub based ebike doesn't ( like op has) Not to say tires, aerodynamics and position etc don't make a...

What speed could a 250 watt motor go?

Generally more amps gets more torque and more volts gets more speed. Most 36v controllers can handle 44.4v so you can add a booster battery for added speed. There is always a risk of knack ring something though.

What speed could a 250 watt motor go?

It's a tricky one as it is not just the controller that restricts the speed but the motor windings themselves. Looking online I'm guessing one of the bafang motors so you might get a couple of extra mph out with a change of controller (or derestriring by cutting the restrict loop (if there is...

8fun - LED handlebar bypass for testing purposes ?

Hi All, I shall be helping a forum member troubleshoot issues on his bike on Friday. I’ve been running though the possible issues in my head and ways to test. The problems he has had are reminiscent of my own with the 8fun kit – the fault turned out to be the LED handlebar panel. However, as...

    Charging Speed

You could add a BMS to your setup ? Only issue is your voltage . 48v BMS and chargers are readily available but 44.4v rather harder to come by. There was a thread about it before - I'll try to find it

    Gloves and Shoe Covers

I can vouch for the aldi winter lobster gloves. I got a full on 30 minute drenching today. First time in months. My jacket needs reproofing but the gloves were ace. 6.99 or 7.99 can't recall

    Battery li-ion 48V 15Ah

just to save a bit time for others this is an apparently homemade battery pack. Uses Sanyo prismatic cell pouches wrapped in black duct/cloth tape. Advert says lipo but it doesnt seem to stack up against quoted 2c discharge. So more likley some other lithium chemistry its 10 x10 x 30 cm and...

    Find BMSBattery waterproof connectors

I use xt60 connectors on my bike for basic 2 pole power connections - they have proved waterproof (as long as a good job is done with shrink tube)

    The UK Difference

as mentioned a in aother thread perhaps the 2015 entry in the ebike market by Shimano will make a big difference here And I know its only anecdotal evidence but I've seen a huge increase in my local area in ebikes. When I first started I saw one in 8 months. Now I see them regularly...

Charging Lipo from an inverter. Any expereince?

Ahh yes - normally the nominal voltage of the pack is referred to eg a 36v pack rather than the charge voltage (42v in the case of a 36v pack) So yes your 51.8v (14s) nominal pack will have a charge voltage of 58.8v

Welcome jay May I ask what bike you have now including (if you can) whether the bottom bracket is a standard 68mm one ? And if th frame is steel ? Additionally it would be useful to know roughly where you live (to advise on local suppliers) and also if your route is flat or hilly Thanks

    Remove speed limit freego hawk

A ku65 from BMS battery would be a good replacement, I use it on an 8fun motor . It has a speed restrict wire which you can leave unplugged - it increased my speed by about 2mph. It comes with a led handlebar panel However it can also be overvolted quite happily - that's where a big speed...

Charging Lipo from an inverter. Any expereince?

Hi there - cant help you on the modified sine wave front I'm afraid. I'd have thought a quick email to the seller ought to give you an answer ? I can tell you that 14s means 14 x 3.7v cells in series to get 51.8v (I presume 58.8v is just a typo). Litium cells are 3.7v nominal or 3.2v if Lifepo4...
