In 1971, I bought an Ariel VB sidecar outfit with a broken magneto chain. I knew that sidecar outfits were difficult to drive, so I wanted to practice before I repaired it. My road was quite a steep hill that led on to another road that was a gentle hill. My mates came round to see my new...

    Battery Fires

In the first place, I'd like to see the police enforce the rules more for ebikes. To many of us, it's obvious which ones are illegal, and I see illegal ones nearly every time I ride my bike. The higher power motors in the illegal bikes put a much higher strain on the battery, which is probably...

OK, more progress. When you touch those wires is there any click or tick from the motor? One more thing: you can only bridge them after switching on, not before.

Yes. If the vehicle is on the road or in a public space and meets the definition of a motor vehicle, it must have tax, MOT and insurance, even if it's parked. That's why they can seize parked cars that have no tax or MOT. Do you believe that the battery was completely flat, or do you think he...

OK, we're getting somewhere now. That means the controller is switched on. You can forget about all these tests now because you said that the motor turns when you do the self-learning. That eliminates any problems with the motor or hall sensors. Do the self-learning test again until the wheel...

Iam 57 yr old female loves cycling

If I were to guess what you said means, I reckon that you have a speed sensor mismatch. Maybe describe in more detail what your seeing, and show us some photos, so that we can get you to a solution. Who's "they" that said you need a new motor? What exactly did you buy from Yose?

There are no big red and black wires going to the motor. You're all mixed up about what's what. The motor has three thick blue, yellow and green wires plus 5 thin blue, yellow, green, red and black, which is where you're supposed to measure the 5v. They're indicated in your picture of the...

Good start. We've now established that your battery voltage is 37.62v and the room temperature is 16.7 deg C.

AFAICS, those guys are just shouting random things at you. There's no basis to anything they say. When an ebike doesn't work, you test it to find the cause. If a controller has blown or a MOSFET shorted, you can see it in the measurements, then you know what to do.

The self-learning procedure lets the controller figure out the phase, angle and the connection sequence of the phase and hall wires. Each time you do it, it reverses the direction of the motor, so if the motor whirrs, but the wheel doesn't turn, you do it again. Once the wheel is rotating...

Somebody talking about a "module" probably doesn't know what they're talking about or you've misunderstood what they said. Nobody, who knows about ebikes would use that word. All the parts of an ebike have specific names, like pedal sensor, throttle, control panel, LCD, LED display, motor, motor...

Suntour HESC system doesn't work after replacing pedal sensor.

If you don't want to pedal so hard to get full power, you can remove one or two springs from the torque sensor. There are 5 of them that link the inner and outer parts. One end of each spring is on a spigot and the other is just butted against its stop, so you can lever that end out with a...

Under EN15194, 52v isn't allowed. Another argument could be that by going from 36v to 48v, the bike's speed increased by 30%, and it was 15.5 mph before. You have to understand that reporters generally don't know how things work. 14 years ago, 8f you asked me how I made my Cyclamatic slug go 33...

Suntour HESC system doesn't work after replacing pedal sensor.

It's both and you can test in. Assuming that you have the 4 wire version, there are 4 wires: Red 5v and black ground to provide the 5v to power it, which leaves two signal wires. One signal wire pulses with 5v as you rotate the crank to give the pedal speed. The other gives an analogue 0v to 5v...

I don't know why you would, but what I do know is that it's virtually impossible to get 36v on that wire. Do the tests, starting with the 5v. In your first post, you said that you had determined that the controller was faulty. Can you explain how you came to that conclusion?

I was going to suggest swapping out the controller for a KT one, but Ezee motors are a bit weird. I tried to replace an Ezee controller before. I tried a KT, which would only run it at the correct speed backwards. when I reversed the wires, it rotated like a turbine at 50 mph. Then I tried a...

You should have done my checklist. See point no.2. If you have 36v on that red wire, you've blown everything, though I've got a feeling you're telling porkies. Do the tests I said and tell us the results.
