Looking for a decent ebike to buy, on a bit of a 'budget'

The hub-motor shouldn't have any friction unless something is wrong. Do the wheels spin freely? What motor is it? What diameter is it?

Yose Power Hub- need a new rim!

When you have 3-pin connectors on your bike, you can use 2 or3-pin brake switches. If your bike has 2-pin connectors, you can only use 2-pin brake switches, though there5nothing stopping you from running a 5v wire from anything else (Throttle or pedal sensor) up to the handlebars to power a...

They're probably wrong about the battery causing your problem unless you've wrongly described it. Whether you battery is knackered or not is another issue.

    Help! Pas in reverse

Good explanation, though probably wrong; however, the only thing people need to know is that most of the 12 magnet dual sensor ones are handed. They can only be fitted one side of the bike. L or R is marked on them. Other types can be fitted either side, and if they work backwards, you can solve...

I have done a few conversions and serviced e-bikes

Be aware that although the batteries look the same, there are different mounting plates and connectors. That shouldn't be too much of a problem for you because you have a separate controller, but you might get the problem that the plate mounting holes don't line up with your frame rivnuts so you...

Prices of the electricity we use to charge

That was really bad. They just cherry picked the costs they wanted to make it favourable for EVs, conveniently missing all the serious costs, like depreciation, repairs, and they were disingenuous about maintenance costs.

How legal is a kit which can be set up to exceed 250W and 15.5mph.

It was just after the guy responsible for it read that thread on our forum. Maybe enough people from that thread clicked the button that says, "report a problem with this page". I did it ages ago.

They can't tell you how to do your conveyancing. They probably mean that they's rather deal with a solicitor, but I can't think why unless they think you might swindle them. My council didn't care, but they obviously weren't used to it, as they didn't want to send me stuff and kept asking who my...

Yose Power Hub- need a new rim!

The people, who put you off hydraulic brakes, are nuts, and so are you to listen to people, who don't have a clue. There's absolutely no downside. They work consistently day in, day out, without maintenance for years. Plus, no other types of brakes can match the modulation. Avid BB7 are absolute...

Prices of the electricity we use to charge

When I bought a council house, I did the conveyancing myself. It's just a matter of filling in a few forms. The only thing that really matters is that you have to immediately register the transaction with the Land Registry, otherwise you get fined. I can't remember the timescale, but it was...

    250w bafang kit locked down?

Thanks, I didn't know you meant the Voltsandamps guy. I was getting confused with a guy called Kraeuterbutter, who's very good with ebike stuff.

    Help! Freewheel axle

Is it a Q/R hub or bolt on? Disc or rim brake? If you go to your nearest bike recycling centre, they'll have a shed load of 7-speed wheels off all the catalogue bikes...

How legal is a kit which can be set up to exceed 250W and 15.5mph.

Most motors come with the manufacturer's name, the rated power and the voltage marked on them by label, silk screen marking or engraving. That's all you need. The battery also has a label with the voltage on it. Using logic, the only time the labelling comes into it is when there's suspicion...

    250w bafang kit locked down?

I remember something about that, but I can't find any reference to it. Have you got a link? - to the spat, not the fact that BBS01 and BBS02 qre different.

How legal is a kit which can be set up to exceed 250W and 15.5mph.

I don't agree with that. The Government makes it absolutely clear what an EAPC is and they also make it clear that EAPCs are exempt from motor vehicle regulations. You guys always try to make things more complicated than they are: An EAPC: must have pedals that can be used to propel it can...

    Swytch juddering

If the motor makes a graunching/screeching noise, like gears grinding, it's a problem with the timing of the commutation pulses. That normally happens because of a problem in the motor cable, like the main connector not pushed in all the way to the marked line. It can also happen when the cable...

How legal is a kit which can be set up to exceed 250W and 15.5mph.

You can use as much power as you want with a 250w motor, but if you have a motor that's rated at more than 250w, it's illegal no matter how much power you restrict it to. To see if you're legal, look at the motor and see what's written on it. If it says 250w, you're home and dry. Anything else...

    Wierd Pedal Assist Problem

You can't use a 22A one with your battery. You need 15A 36v/48v with the block connectors. The controllers on their own don't cost much, so it's easy to upgrade to a bigger one later if you get a bigger battery later. The most your motor can do is about 20A at 36v and 15A at 48v...
