    Thioughts on removeable kit,

Not only there is a drag, but also there will be added weight to the bike if you leave mid drive. I am guessing for commuting your nephew will want powerful motor and powerful motors tend to be on heavy side. There are nice deals on ebay or facebook. Buy cheap bike and convert. Keep carbon Trek...

    Thioughts on removeable kit,

Yes. Buy another bike. Many nice and cheap options in bargain basement now. https://www.pedelecs.co.uk/forum/threads/bargains.46309/page-12#post-726417 Personally I wouldn't want to convert and deconvert a bike on regular basis. Sounds like a lot of fuss. Front hub motor maybe would do the...

    Does this exist?

You have a very healthy budget (around £2K). Are you looking for ready made bike or conversion is an option? https://www.pedelecs.co.uk/forum/threads/bargains.46309/page-12#post-726417

Changes to selling e-bikes, conversion kits and batteries on eBay.co.uk - No more private (personal) sales.

Halfords and Argos are selling illegal scooters and somehow nobody is making any fuss about that.

:D Now it will be even more difficult for owners of proprietary systems to find replacement parts.

    Legal EBIKE LOOPHOLES

Yes, of course, but it is a good line of defense against somebody in uniform who will say "I confiscate your bike, because it has a throttle and all throttles are illegal. I heard it on BBC, so it must be true"

It doesn't matter how you call it. A throttle, a button, a sensor, a thumber... everybody calls it a throttle. People really don't care about semantics that much. They want to have a line of defense when stopped by police and when police will try to take their bike away. That is what I would do...

There is demand for this stuff already. Many fat bikes cruising around. I guess people who are keen to buy 4x4 or SUV are main potential buyers. I mean those who don't have budget for 4x4 or SUV just yet... Completely not my cup of tea.

No Andy. You can have legal EAPC with a throttle. Insurance, helmets are not required by law (but recommended). I am not sure why @flecc agreed with your comment. Perhaps he would like to elaborate.

Legal status of ebikes that are identical to those that have gone through the DVSA approval process but haven't been tested

"The new class for Twist & Go EAPCs is called "250W LPM", a sub-category of the standard "Low Powered Moped", which is the L1e-A category which T&G EAPCs fell into before. The new edition of the test manual reduces the requirements somewhat for this new sub-category. For example, a kickstand is...

Exactly. I think we all got it wrong and some serious recalibration is needed. We should all quit our jobs, claim benefits, buy expensive bikes (not Argos clankers) and blame bloody migrants for taking our jobs.
