E-bike seizures surge as police take 'death traps' off the streets

E-bike seizures are like battery fires and unicorns. Everybody knows they exist, but nobody has ever seen one, so no... we don't know what police do when they want to find out if bike is legal or not

E-bike seizures surge as police take 'death traps' off the streets

I don't think you should have reasons to worry. Even if police will do test in the air, bike should stop assisting at 25 airkm per hour.

E-bike seizures surge as police take 'death traps' off the streets

All I have is the picture you can see. It looks like EP-2 PRO International, but I can be wrong. They provide very vague information about rated power https://engwe-bikes-uk.com/products/ep-2-pro-upgraded-version-combo-750w-folding-electric-mountain-bike

E-bike seizures surge as police take 'death traps' off the streets

Absolutely. This is the reason why I bought motor from Woosh and not from PSW. There is one very important rule though. Motor must be rated by manufacturer.

E-bike seizures surge as police take 'death traps' off the streets

My point is - there are many motors and ready made e-bikes on the market illegal as they are sold. No need to derestrict them or anything. They are simply illegal in the eyes of the law. On the very first picture in this thread there is an Engwe bike sized by police.

That is not the answer to my question.

    Carbon-Mtb build for various dropout

Thank you for taking your time and trying to explain why you did it this way. It only proves carbon frames are not suitable for conversions. Can you elaborate why battery is so poorly attached to the downtube? Is it something that can be improved or is it a lost fight? Accidentally I have an...

E-bike seizures surge as police take 'death traps' off the streets

Are you trying to say TSDZ8 sold by PSW for £216 is as legal as the same motor sold by you for £385?

    Carbon-Mtb build for various dropout

I am confused... what are you trying to achieve? MTB without proper tires is not an MTB. Battery should not rattle on downtube. Additional bracket will only prolong agony. Is your bike made only for the purpose of presentation in the office?

    EBike Built like mopeds?

Despite that I remain skeptical. This is a moped dressed up as AEPC. A lot there in based on deception.

Hub Motor Mounting in forks / frame

Why not? I have two bikes with front wheel hubs and they are just fine. A lot will depend o how much "meat" you have there and what extra measures are you ready to implement (like torque arm). Also how much power/torque you want would be critical. I guess there is no clear yes/no answer here.

    EBike Built like mopeds?

It does matter as Eskuta is not a manufacturer. Real rated power is on a motor.

    EBike Built like mopeds?

As a bike this thing is extremely ineffective. Even ghost pedalling must be uncomfortable on longer journeys. Motor looks more like 1000W+ Closer look at numbers engraved by real manufacturer would give more honest answer.

    EBike Built like mopeds?

I found it quite boring. Sorry for being honest. This moped is not my cup of tea at all and probably because of that I wasn't interested. There are quite a few things you can improve in your next videos. I don't see it as a review. For me it was more like a promotional material. BTW Piaggio...

    EBike Built like mopeds?

This way you can put pedals on a tractor and call it an EAPC. IMO government should make sure abominations like this one won't end up on British roads.

    EBike Built like mopeds?

It is not a bike. It is a moped with attached pedals to exploit legal loophole. It looks ridiculous.

    Carbon-Mtb build for various dropout

Cable coming out of the motor should go down not up, to prevent water ingress. I am not sure if your tires are a good choice for MTB.

    Getting back on......

I always use both brakes. Last time I ended up on a ground when I was five (touch wood). Couldn't agree more. Anticipate what is ahead and adjust speed accordingly. Good brakes are very important too. That is why I keep telling people that saving few £ on brakes is a false economy.

    Getting back on......

I am finding this advice very surprising. It is like going into a fight with your stronger hand tied behind back.
