    Juddering when braking

Quite. But as I said above, there is no play in the headset. Hence my puzzlement ...

    Juddering when braking

Thanks fordulike, that's jolly interesting. I can't imagine how the setup's got contaminated with what, but nevertheless it's no big deal to clean up as you suggest. Being so new it's still on the Tektro disc and pads, but funnily enough the dealer's suggestion for replacement pads when I need...

    Juddering when braking

My current pedelec has solid front forks and Tektro disc brakes. After about 150 miles from new, I'm getting very noticeable juddering when applying the front brake moderately hard. Light braking is OK, as is very hard braking as long as lever pressure's not applied gradually: if it is, we go...

    No Suspension

Oh dear. I'm well over 70 and I've just spent £2K on an e-bike that doesn't have suspension. Does this make me a silly person? Will other cyclists point at me and start tittering when they see me? Should I perhaps just venture out after dark now?

Which e bike for 70 year old

For what it's worth I'm over 70 and I too live in a hilly area. Less than a week ago replaced my 10 year old Kalkhoff Agattu with a Batavus Harlem Ego, which was just about the only bike I could find that ticked all my boxes (those being comfortable upright riding position for a 6-footer...

    Courier companies?

Thank you one and all for your replies. There are several reasons why I won't get into packing the bike for transit, not the least of which is my very clear statement on the listing that if collected by a third party, the bike must be taken as seen in the photos i.e. without any packaging...

    Courier companies?

The buyer of my Lady Wife's Kalkhoff has a problem which is a bit of a PITA for me too, so ... does anyone know of a courier company that he might be able to use to collect a bike from East Sussec and deliver it to Belfast when I'm not able to box or package the bike in any way?

How many of you also own and ride a regular bike?

Two of us here, one in her 60s and me in my 70s, living in hilly area. Gave up the motor car 8 years ago, since which time we've used our bikes for either transport or recreation practically every day unless there's been ice about. Currently replacing our 8-year-old pedelecs with new ones...

    Torque figures

Much obliged :) Point noted about RPM, but isn't it the case that the spread of torque across the rev range is very different to that of an infernal combustion engine? Whatever, I wish they'd quote torque in foot-pounds. I can't get any imagination of it until I've converted from kN ... :D

    Torque figures

When an e-bike maker quotes a torque ("power") figure, that's obviously measured under ideal circumstances e.g. a test lab. But where do they measure that value? Output sprocket, or what?

Urgent help please with rattling Kalkhoff battery.

Well, I double-checked and the slack's definitely transverse, not vertical, and I can't see any obvious way of fettling it, so I've advised the buyer that it happens and he doesn't seem to be concerned by it. Actually, I'd never really noticed it, but according to my Lady Wife it's been like...

Urgent help please with rattling Kalkhoff battery.

Cheers Jonah. So I guess there's no way of adjusting the lock. Can you remember exactly where you stuck them? On the battery or on the relevant part of the catch on the frame?

Urgent help please with rattling Kalkhoff battery.

I'm sure I've seen something about this on flecc's website, but it's not letting me on at present ("connection timed out"), so can anyone please tell me the cure for a loose/rattling battery on a Panasonic-motored 2011 Agattu? The slack is across the frame i.e grip the battery handle, push and...

For Sale Kalkhoff Agattu Step-Through - listing updated!

2011-model Kalkhoff Agattu bought new January 2012 . Frame size is "large", believed to be 57cm, which has proved ideal for 6ft rider. Until I took the plastic cover off it I'd forgotten that the saddle is shot, but everything works as it should and the battery still holds a charge, though...

Help please with Kalkhoff Agattu transmission

Oh, that's a real shame. I was rather hoping you'd tell me they were made out of some magical high tensile steel, with each link individually hardened and tempered by horny-handed master craftsmen craftspersons. Oh well ...
