    Replacement for Kalkhoff Agattu?

Cheers folks. Hi there Flecc. I was hoping you were still around here ... :) Points noted about the Batavus. However, one of their Cortina range seems to tick all the right boxes, so right now the two big questions centre round buying direct from Hollandbikeshop in the Netherlands, and...

    Replacement for Kalkhoff Agattu?

Thanks folks. Keep 'em coming :) At very first glance, Batavus seem to make the sort of thing I'm after, although I don't know if roller brakes are a plus or a minus for me - my only experience of them was on a Workscycles FR8 that we briefly owned a few years ago. Need to think about that...

    Replacement for Kalkhoff Agattu?

My 2011 Agattu is now getting well past its best before, so I need to start considering its replacement. My brain won't cope with any more random online searching, so I'd appreciate suggestions please bearing in mind the following ... I'm in my 70s, relatively fit considering, and having long...

Help! Batteries for 2011 Kalkhoff Agattu

Our 2011-model Kalkhoff Agattus are still on the original batteries, which obviously aren't going to last us much longer. Given that I don't want to get into replacing the cells in the existing batteries, what options if any do we have when the day finally arrives that we really have to Do...

Replacement Kalkhoff 25.2v 18Ah battery options?

The original battery on one of our 2011-model Agattus is on its last legs. Is cell replacement a sensible option, given that I'm handy with a soldering iron? I guess my concerns about that are mainly how cost-effective that might be, where to get the cells, and how reliable they're likely to...

    Chain lube

Tried a search but got nowhere with it, so ... what's reckoned to be the best lube to use on the chains of our Kalkhoff Agattus which we use every day in all weathers, nearly always on tarmac?

    Kalkhoff Agattu peculiarity ...

Well, this afternoon I slackened off all three, did the magic wiggling, then re-tightened them to silly tight. That's 90% cured the problem, and at least I now know for sure that the remaining odd creak or two every now and then is nothing to worry about. Whilst at it, I was trying to work out...

    Kalkhoff Agattu peculiarity ...

Cheers flecc. I could rule out the crank to shaft joint from the start - both sides have copper grease on the mating faces ;) Will do the business with the wiggling when time permits and report back! And hell's bells! I've just checked - 40Nm is nigh on 30ft lb!

    Kalkhoff Agattu peculiarity ...

Hmmm ... well, I'm a bit pushed for time today so all I could get done is establish that the front two motor mounting bolts are as tight as the proverbial but the back one was maybe half a turn off tight. All three are now tight, and by "tight" I mean hold a 10" o/e spanner on the nut and lean...

Cheers chaps. I'll check out the motor mounting screws later today weather permitting and report back :)

    Kalkhoff Agattu peculiarity ...

I have a Kalkhoff Agattu bought new in February 2012, which has done something over 2500 miles, quite a few of them with a trailer full of shopping. Apart from the necessity to change the chain and chainwheel last year, I've had no problems. However ... In the last week or so, it's started...

    Wonderful Whitfield Welcome....to all cyclists

But why exactly is that a problem? Seriously, if I was running that business, I certainly wouldn't plaster the site with stuff so it's all things to all people. I'd try and attract a more discerning clientele - punters who'd perhaps been a bit intrigued by the site and so decided to get off...

    Wonderful Whitfield Welcome....to all cyclists

And the potential problem right there is that the existing shots on the website are good. They convey the impression that there is a bit of style to the place, as indeed does the site itself. As to the relative paucity of pictures, isn't less sometimes more? Speaking as a retired pro...

    Wonderful Whitfield Welcome....to all cyclists

Good luck with it. I must say that that website's streets ahead of most for cafés and small villagey shops. FFS don't change it any more than you have to!
