    And the weight of three car batteries would really slow you down. I really can't see why you would go lead acid. Lithium is light and power packed. Given the need to replace SLA lithium will also be cost effective. My £90 16 Ah hobby King pack arrived today

    All legal bikes are assistance capped at 15 mph. Test the bike without power the better it runs unpowered the easier it is on the assist system. And test test test ride.

    Not being a mountain biker the etiquette is new to me but the uphill hard working cyclist gives way to the free running downhill one? That's the reverse of road manners. In my day etc. Cars going uphill had right of way as hill starts on a Morris were difficult, clutches and engines were weak?

    Test ride both without power. The kalkhoff will retain a high value but generally I wouldn't expect either to fail in a rush. I enjoyed the ride on my Panasonic powered bikes. The difference might be a quality of ride but that might not be enough to justify the price difference to you?

    where to buy a 42V DC 30A on-off switch

    Cpc components (farnel) is where I would look. 12 volts or 42 wouldn't worry me greatly. The insulation for low voltage should do both fine.
