    Let's keep the throttle!

Clare Perry: "There is one more point to respond to. The twist and go classifications will be permitted up to 15.5 mph. A vehicle under that limit will be designated as an EAPC, because it is considered to be a benefit to elderly and less able people. Any twist and go vehicle that can achieve a...

Will the end of full speed throttles in January 2016 cause a rush to buy.

But throttles not only benefit those with leg disabilities. There's also those with limited energy. Also leg disabilities often go hand in hand with other joint problems, generalised dodgy joints, which make hand operated pedals just as problematic. Dodgy shoulder or back anyone? I don't...

Will the end of full speed throttles in January 2016 cause a rush to buy.

I've seen this on a number of UK government websites: Moped category definition A moped (category AM) is defined as having a maximum design speed over 25km/h (15.5mph) but not exceeding 45 km/h (28 mph); or a light quadricycle with an unladen weight not more than 350kg and up to 45km/h. It has...

Will the end of full speed throttles in January 2016 cause a rush to buy.

Indeed a "legal" bike is completely unlike a moped! At the end of the day how do many pedelecs work anyway? You turn the pedals and the motor comes on. The controller just looks for the turning of the pedals, you don't actually need to be putting any power into the pedals, and the motor comes...

Will the end of full speed throttles in January 2016 cause a rush to buy.

No, a moped is not the solution. E-bikes enjoy a number of advantages that mopeds are not allowed: 1) Parking on bike racks (lampposts, fences, etc). In cities parking can be a real problem. 2) Ability to go on "safe" cycle tracks. Also they are much lighter, can be fitted in/on a car, and for...

    BMS Battery conversion kit

I got stung on a second hand keyboard. Trouble is they charged 20% VAT on £108 rather than $108 as was clearly specified on the docket. Oh and £8 quid handling charge. This was Parcel Farce.... Thinking about getting a Ping battery but this is making me think twice....

    Throttle use Poll

My knees are buggered so I always use the throttle, or should I say used the throttle as my Wisper has been off the road for the last couple of years as ,my knees couldn't cope with even the very light spinning. Ideally I'd want a 15mph moped/bike that could be parked up like a normal...

    Wow only been 2 years

Wisper reviews.. One thing to remember about the Wisper reviews is that many of them are of older Wispers. The bikes have been continually improving every few months and many of the niggles in the earlier bikes have been fixed in the new ones. For example, the oft-quoted spongy brakes have been...

    Cycling after knee replacement.

Indeed they do :D I have fitted 100mm cranks to my Wisper 905. Rather than the very nice but pricey Highpath crank adaptors, I used a childs crankset available from SJS for a mere £20. Hasn't really helped my knee that much unfortunately, but it's a cheap way to try it.

Controller for both 48 and 36v Motor

Motion, Whilst it is possible to get such a controller (& Keywin/ecrazyman has supplied them in the past, I think Tiberius has one), one thing you need to be aware of is making sure you cut off at the correct voltage. Basically the way you get such a controller is to take a 48V controller...

    Wisper battery

Ok a few factors here that could be contributing to this: a) It was ex-display. So we don't know how well the battery has been treated before you got it, or exactly how old it is. (David from Wisper might be able to tell you if you have the serial number). b) Your weight is on the high...

    Wisper spokes

Get in touch with Norman (Wisper support+on this forum) directly, he'll send you some spokes because you won't get them anywhere else (unless you're really lucky and if you do please let everyone know!!). Cheers Steve

    Wisper...better riding position.

Yes, I've changed the handle bars to some "Dutch" style sit up and beg. And also the seat post to a longer solid style. I'm not your size, but I found no real problems doing it, it's all standard bike stuff. I'm not sure if the Eco model has it, but have you tried altering the quick...

    Battery Cell Issues Pls help

Good luck returning it :( As far as what motor with what battery size....here's a bit of theory... Different batteries have different "C ratings". The C rating says how much current a battery can supply as compared to its capacity. So a 2AH battery cell at 1C will be supplying 2Amps at 2C...

    Battery Cell Issues Pls help

First of all that measurement of 2.4V on some of the cells, if it is correct, probably means that those cells are very likely to be dead and unrecoverable. (Lithium cells have a minimum voltage they shouldn't go below otherwise damage results very rapidly) This low voltage also means that...

    Li-ion or LiFePo

And you know it's sooo tempting to do that! It's like looking over a cliff and getting the urge to jump. :D (Even more tempting as the charger uses an IEC too! yikes) I wonder how big the bang would be...?

    Jamming disc brake.

Yes wheeling it backwards releases the jam. So if I read it right the pads themselves are rotating in the caliper and jamming against the rotor? So potentially new pads would fix it? Or possibly adjusting the brake so the pads sit closer to the rotor and there's less room to rotate?

    Jamming disc brake.

I've got a wierd problem with my front disc brake. When I do a hard brake from speed, it sometimes jams ON! (causing me to almost fall off the bike grrr!) I've examined the pads and disc, and they look fine. The action appears smooth with no obstructions, it almost like the pads...
