Looking for a decent ebike to buy, on a bit of a 'budget'

One has to know the affect that an overvolted 36v motor does compared to a 48v one already wound for a certain rpm . If one wants 201rpm then one has to buy 48v motor already wound for 201rpm as a 36v 201rpm motor speed will increase by 33%, giving 267rpm or a 270rpm motor if round up...

    Torque Arms.

Don't buy any that use a jubilee hose clip to clamp the main secondary arm. If one is capable then one can make their own small one piece TA's out of a bit of 2.5 - 3 mm steel. Steel forks/drop outs are safe usually with 250w motors without TA's, the exception may be the heavier duty BPM or...

Have I got the wrong controller?

We always recommend KT over nay other after market controller kit, one gets what one pays for and with KT one can't go far wrong. In the bigger picture of things paying 40% more for a KT over the cheaper speed controllers is a win win.

Looking for a decent ebike to buy, on a bit of a 'budget'

It isn't just UK law , the EAPC is worldwide in most normal countries with people of decent intellect ( bar USA to name one) , Europe , Japan , Australasia all adopt the 250w 15km/h ruling. Anything else is a moped , for the most part to be an EAPC is must be pedalled not twist and go and must...

    Help again please

If the above doesn't work then the wire sequence may be incorrect. Does the Red LED on the sensor blink as the magnets pass ?

Does anyone know how to unlock an ananda b5 controller?

One expects 'unlock' means derestriction of speed though some users may think the power cam be unlocked. Most of the Ananda stuff now for OEM is CANbus /BLE some of it might be uart. Unlock will mean programming ad dealer intervention to which they won't consider for legality .

Looking for a decent ebike to buy, on a bit of a 'budget'

AKM128 freewheel version is rated as 800w geared hub. Bar the marked rating the hub is as small or even a tad smaller then 250w marked hubs.

Looking for a decent ebike to buy, on a bit of a 'budget'

The marketing is a bit false for 1500w , yes 6x power of a 250w hub but that is on a flat tarmac road. Not dirt /mud or hill climbing, it will lack the torque and effiency to run slowly. Simply it will bog down with lack of torque ability at 48v. These hubs have a high winding /rpm speed...

Shimano steps e6000 - alternative battery?

Good doesn't mean good value with these proprietary bikes, sourcing a battery is one issue. The next issue is system repair cost should there be no warranty.

BSA square taper bottom bracket compatibility with Swytch

Looks ok to me. Looking at your BB it appears to be fine and a 20 spline PAS will fit . All that is different is the larger gaps on your BB are missing a piece of material from the middle , otherwise one would have 20 equal castellation for the PAS spline to sit in to. The push in all-in-one...

Looking for a decent ebike to buy, on a bit of a 'budget'

Dropping in a wheel is far from the truth. All std push bikes use a 9mm drop out , most kits use a 12mm axle and the larger type motor power kit you mention will use a 14mm axle. One has to in nearly most cases has to modify the drop out to accept a larger axle , often many think as you have...

    Fiido d2s with d4s components

Not being rude but have you first carried out the basics ? Does the battery actually output correct voltage and does it take a charge ?

Looking for a decent ebike to buy, on a bit of a 'budget'

The cyclo tricity kit is illegal , one isn't allowed to have a marked motor rated at more then 250w then restrict it nilly willy. For 1500w the motor will be rated at least for 500w .

New Wisper Tailwind 806 Launches on Tuesday

The Circe Helios is a tandem 20" but it is clever as one can add a rear cargo deck in place of the second rider position. Like any cargo bike they are not cheap , they have a lowish step over and battery placement isn't an issue.

New Wisper Tailwind 806 Launches on Tuesday

Room indeed is the main issue with storing a proper cargo bike safely /securely and in the dry. I store my Ute in the attached garage where room is at a premium as I we have years of clutter kept. Indeed in my mind a poper cargo bike is one of a LWB design , the Ute is over 2.1m and is a...

    Hi from Fleet, Hampshire

Not totally correct regarding cadence sensor bikes, using current control with a cadence hub bike and one will get a workout using minImal PAS allowing only 13- 20% power input.

Mid-drive conversation kit for pulling heavy cargo bike

Rear hub will accept what ever gearing one fits, I have always used CST hubs with 9sp cassettes as they are cheaper to buy. One can fit any gearing one want's typically I use 11t/36t or have used 11t/42t as well. Any one who hasn't used a nice CST hub with a nice torque contol /current...

Mid-drive conversation kit for pulling heavy cargo bike

With my heavy trailer I have only used PAS2 (only a few times ) out of the five PAS levels with my Cotic hub Road rat , if one is cylce fit then one won't need much more input . Mostly PAS 1 is plenty for me with gearing to tow at 12- 15mph on a offroad bridle way for 6 miles. With my TSDZ2 I...
