    Queries: E-Bike Touring in France

Difference between a stem shock and fork shock is that jarring /vibration is better removed at the bar end where it is directly needed.

The definition of a speed control device or twist and go is one that can be operated from a standing start without pedal rotation, a KT with pedal first relies on pedal first albeit not for very long .

There are no waving of rights to cover impairment/disability as all are treated the same with the EAPC regs/law. Obviously those with impairments are at a bit of a disadvantage and still would be found guilty as an abled person would be one . One can fit a speed control device and hope to...

    Axel replacement?

It's about time fourm members stopped offering advice for these mopeds as it isn't helping anyones cause by encouraging illegal motor vehicles on the road . These guys think they are just ebikes but they are not .

Not a motor issue , just how the controller alogarithm's handle the cutting in and out at the speed cut off. Different control systems deal with it smoother then others. My Tongsheng is pretty smooth as are my KT's .

Both shop owner and bike owner are wrong, unless V5 certification is at hand. The rules are simple and in Black and white , yet their are those who want to make up their own rules.

    AKM 100sx - stripdown-how?

The very fine screw thread is invisible /hidden and is located near the RHS flange . So the clutch holes don't mis align I only remove two screws to attach my diy tool for undoing, one will need to place the axle ina vice if the wheel isn't laced into a rim .

    Comfort on long rides

Prior to the Mary's I had been using Geoff's which were the most comfy bars I have used . They looked wider then they look, the loop made for loads of room for extra's as there was little room left once brakes etc were attched. Swept bars are the way forward any comy riding style .

    Spoke rub

As well as squeezing breasts , oops I meant spokes . One can also pluck the spokes , loose ones will give a very dull tone compared to the other tighter ones. I always start at the valve and move C/W . Don't go mad with tightening , a 1/8th turn to 1/2 turn for any loose sounding ones then...

How legal is a kit which can be set up to exceed 250W and 15.5mph.

LPM 250w EAPC doesn't need number plates as it is still classed as a n EAPC, itj ust needs the V5 certification which Wisper charge a little extra for to make things legal. LPM 250W EAPC can still out put 500+ watts. Any thing other power wise then no there is no other route around having a...

all blue lights flashing on battery

Testing is the way forward on wiring/controller. Blue solid lights on the battery are just a SOC indicator and Blus strobing lights indicating a system fault. The joys of buying used untested/tried bikes probably why the seller decided to sell it.

    Comfort on long rides

Agree with every one here , reach and handle bar positioning / bar styl make a heck of a difference to comfort. My Kona Ute has nice swept back bars with the addition of a Redshift supension bar stem , also the 650b 42c tyres soak up vibrations like suspension does. If I was 30 years younger...

all blue lights flashing on battery

If lights are steady when off the bike then one would suspect a comm's fault or fault with the controller . Carrera HESC systems are notorious for unreliability and had you asked the forum whether to buy the bike in the first place then a big NO would have been the answer.

Yose Power Hub- need a new rim!

One can't order spokes until a new rim has been measured , some may give the ERD at purchase point but one needs to double check the info is correct ( once it is is at hand to do so). If going down the self build route then S/S Sapim strongs (spokes ) are very good , ryanbuilds...

    Swytch juddering

There's not much to go wrong with in the controller unless a wire has come loose and is shorting ( highly unlikely). A mosfet will simply not allow the bike to work . The most likely scenario is a poor wire issue or connection . Internal motor wire issue is unlikely though as B4T has said water...

Help to fault find on a Carrera Battery

Cell venting is for a reason and as said a fail safe mechanism. 4.2v is a max SOC for a lion cell. Any messing about with cells and using force on them to manually vent them is a cause to bin them, don't follow idiot advice from numpty u tube posters.

Yose Power Hub- need a new rim!

I meant the old rim vs a new rim , if yose has changed rim supplier or used a different rim then both ERD's may well differ by more then a couple of mm. That would mean one likely can't reuse old spokes.
