Longer Range out of the box

Mbf001, Try mccraw.co.uk for an introduction to Scottish recumBENT cycling. Long distance touring is one of his things. If it is touring then 1kw of battery should last all day on a legal bike. And recharge in the b&b overnight. Lots to learn from there. And laid back cycles in Edinburgh could...

    To Kit Or To Woosh?

Pedal on the way. Concentrate on not going beneath 12 Mph. The easy down hills will bump the average up. Why worry about beating the car.

Longer Range out of the box

A fuel cell is commercially available and will produce electricity for a small weight. It's a mini generator that can run on alcohol. But then a number of contributors here can run directly on alcohol :-0

Longer Range out of the box

One factor not considered is the bike. A recumbent will have a lower wind resistance and hence use less watts per mile. Going for a velomobile is the pricy but queen of this class. Combined with the comfortable seating they are a serious contender for Randonnering or Audaxing. At 15mph you can...

    Newbie - Advice appreciated

Sorry to read your story. There is little to chose between kits with your specs. But hills and rough ground will eat into the battery power. So one of the built up power packs that can be added too would be my recommendation ( the RC ones) Perhaps start with 15 amps and add when you struggle...

    Flevobike e orca

Google velomobiles and wtch some videos. They can realy move very low wind resistance. I am on a Bent because of my accident and I can't ride a normal bike. They are very comfortable and fast. The extra weight slows acceleration and hill climbing but once going its zoom time. They need good...

    E-assisting a SWB Recumbent

I am looking forward to your review. 40k with 250m of climb it should be interesting. I am predicting a high average speed as uphill shouldn't be slow but down hill you should fly. Breath bated...
