First Electric Bike - which one?

d8veh I disagree the torque sensor makes controlling the speed power subconscious. That is a boon for us hard of thinking types who need to concentrate on the road, newspaper or whatever. Throttle verses sensor is a personal preference (and my choice) It's just is it worth the money?

Woosh Sirocco CD or Big Bear?

John, I am surprised you are not getting the power and range expected. It's a trade off normally more power from motor means reduced battery life and lower motor assist means greater range. As an assisted bike if you pedal the extra from the motor turns you into an untiring cyclist. You climb...

Welcome Crank drive gives the most bike like experience if you get a torque sensor. On older Panasonic drive would give you the range.secondhand 24 volt one should be cheap now. Watch for the gear ratios and ride it unpowered to gauge performance. As a boost even 100 watts would speed you along...

Of course the fastest road legal production electric bike was there, but it wasn't entered into the competition. And it was crank drive. Any guesses as to name and top speed?

Legal bike how to chose between them?

I had the drank drive variant so Panasonic drive made for long range as well. D8veh will tell me hub is as good now, but then defiantly not. And only 17kg as well. v nice. Unfortunately I cannot have one again.

Legal bike how to chose between them?

I am obviously a BH fan having had two. The race came with Shimano 105 which is not cheap kit. When the court case is done I might report on components but the damage/ speed combo was interesting. Dent in wheel rim, tire and spokes OK ( wheel bearings gone though) Amongst other damage.

Legal bike how to chose between them?

Bill and geebee. I guess that's why I won't go back from the recumbent now. Oh the easier distance speed helps too Shemozzle is hitting the spot on what we should be debating. Dave

Once you are used to them you get a performance benefit. And the bike is slightly less nick able . No issues un clipping either

Legal bike how to chose between them?

Thanks This was a deliberately open question. As d8veh has seen I have a bike just now. But what should be the deciding factors in choosing? Max power is one thing. Range is another. Me I am stuck with a recumbent now due to injury.

Doing 16.8 is just within the tolerances if a legal bike but to be fair it did seem to run all the time. It's not sour grapes from KTM but no real evidence of foul play by Oxigen either as tire size and pressure can all factor into it. A win to Oxigen but no dishonour to KTM as they cycled a...

Legal bike how to chose between them?

As legal bikes have virtually identical performance. 250 watt! How do we differentiate between bikes. Is it cost (whoosh), components (Shimano ), brand name kalkoff, KTM, style moustache? Premium price ? Oxygen as they one by inches in the Race? Support ? Established brand? Reviews? Local...

Well I am manual bike just now and a KOM top ten monkey in a few places. But it's all down hill or on the flat where low profile means higher speed for the same wheezy input.

Building new ebike need suggestions on a kit & bike

If it is a limited production and you want a clear field. May I suggest a velomobile or recumbent design. They have premium prices and potential performance to match.
