E-Bike suitable for an MS sufferer - eZee Sprint?

I think your calculation is the wrong way round - a motor geared for 11.5mph in a 20 inch will be slower in a 16 - I make it 9.2mph, and would have correspondingly higher torque (my suggestion would be quite different from the Nano Brompton, which was not undergeared). I do agree that a...

E-Bike suitable for an MS sufferer - eZee Sprint?

Phil, I'm assuming your friend is not looking for high speed on the flat. Given the terrain, there probably isn't that much flat anyway, and he can get all the speed he can handle on the downhills without the motor needing to contribute. Therefore one option would be to have a highly...

    Look What's Coming In 2009

Here's a picture. I think his has a few more rough edges and workarounds, but the riding position appears similar. In his description he says that he arrived at this design to provide a comfortable posture and load carrying capacity And this is the endless sphere thread in case anyone...

    E-bike Of The Year

Afraid that was a 2007 bike so, depending of course on the rules, wouldn't be eligibile! Nevertheless you are kind to mention it. I felt it was ahead of things when I put it together just over a year ago, essentially giving the same performance as the 'fast' wheel which the Cytronex guys...

    Look What's Coming In 2009

My first thought was that it reminded me of the semi-recumbent that Justin L-E rode across Canada on in the summer, which he said was comfortable, and, given his length of journey, I was happy to believe him! I've never ridden anything like that so no personal experience to go on, but...

    E-bike Of The Year

Very good, John! we have to remember it's just a bit of fun! I think in practice people are likely to vote for whatever bike has been the best bike of their 2008 - in many ways irrelevant to them if it was launched a week or two years before they bought it - and who is to say that is wrong...

    E-bike Of The Year

Danny - fyi the winner was actually launched in 2007. [shouts of 'stewards enquiry' in the background...!]

January 1st - And a first for me!

Danny, To make you feel better, I managed to change the rear tyre on my wife's Powacycle (a Windsor, essentially the same as a Salisbury) by loosening the wheel nuts and easing the wheel out of the dropouts. I managed to work enough space to squeeze in a Marathon Plus - a bulky tyre. I...

    Ezee 20% Price Reductions!

In which case, why did Mr Ching appoint them if they don't know what to do? Don't say it was because Tony C. didn't return his call...!

    Hub (Tongxin) power delivery

I've not noticed any falll-off approaching top speed, although I'm not really the best person to comment because on my motor top speed is around 24mph so it doesn't get exceeded too often, and my controller is a third party one, not a Tongxin original.

    Ezee 20% Price Reductions!

I don't believe that if Cyclepoint had asked AtoB to update that, they would have refused, which supports the view that either the Cyclepoint guys have no clue about how to promote their business on-line, or are not bothered about doing so. Odd! Out of curiousity, and also to give them a bit...

    Tongxin motor for folder

That's probably right, but you could almost forgive someone who is a real enthusiast and who happens to identify a winning product way ahead of anyone else. From the outside it would appear that the guy who is described as Tony's partner and who supposedly brings the business brain to the...

    Tongxin motor for folder

Funny isn't it. I'm sure he has had his frustrations with controller issues and other things, but you have to think that to have been first to market in the UK with a product with the strengths of the Tongxin motor had to be a better opportunity than Tony made of it. Look at what Mark from...

    Tongxin motor for folder

Interesting that Brompton has made contact with Tongxin. Maybe something a bit more robust and available than the Nano kit might come out at some point. I agree its a shame that the Brompton forks can't accomodate the slimmer motor without modification, but presumably widening them to take...

    Built my bike at last

I remember there were reports of problems with the 160 about a year ago, which led some people to go for a 175 in 700c wheel. What the issues were or how extensive they were or if and when they may have been sorted out, I don't know. I've not heard anything else. In general the Tongxin...
