    rubber/plastic caps on wheel nuts?

Mainly the former - make it look a bit tidier. A bit like valve caps; nice to have but no big deal if you lose one. Normal bikes nowadays tend to have quick release or skewers, which these would not be compatible with. Nutted wheels which these would fit are fairly rare - only on the...

    My wife's new Tongxin bike

Thanks everyone for the comments! It's a 36v motor, standard (100mm) width. That one is a 260rpm but it normally has the 175rpm for everyday use (although they look the same!).

    Threaded type rear hub gears

Yes to more lower gears; not (easily) any more to higher gears. Not the first time that this has come up as the Powacycle gear range could do with an extra gear at either end. You can replace the rear freewheel (which i recall is a 14-28) with a 14-32 megarange. One of those would add a...

    Beware!!!

Looks in reasonable nick if it is 6, or 4, years old. If there were only 10 sold in the country it might have some scarcity value. Shame we still can't see if it's got a chain!

    Ideal qualities of a E-Folder

Main failing of folders is lack of a high enough gear to enable it to be pedalled sensibly. need 70" at least, ideally 80 or 90.

57cm Diamond Frame Agattu on eBay

Maybe he's selling it because he couldn't afford to keep buying new mudguards everytime he used it!

    Beware!!!

I had another look at the ad to see if I could see the derailleur which would be further proof that it's not a Sprint. But the odd thing is that it shows 4 pictures of the bike from almost the same angle, with none from the chain side!

57cm Diamond Frame Agattu on eBay

It's not that uncommon for people to buy a bike then decide for whatever reason that they don't like it. However it doesn't inspire confidence, as they may have discovered a fault. Some bikes seem to have this happen quite a lot. I was reading on another forum only the other day about a...

E-Bike sales in $ overtake city bikes in Holland

I can believe that because they have a lot of little Solex-style mopeds. They go on most of the cycle paths and you see them everywhere.

E-Bike sales in $ overtake city bikes in Holland

Interesting. From the number of electric bikes that I saw on my trip there in May I can believe this is true.

    Wonder how light these are?

If you do get one, watch out for hungry pandas!

    Beware!!!

Good spot. It's got the motor in the wrong wheel and no Ezee branding anywhere. Strange that they assert that they got it from 50 Cycles. Maybe Scott or Tim can shed some light on the mystery?

    My wife's new Tongxin bike

I said I'd post some pictures of the new Tongxin bike that I've built up for my wife. Now that it is working well, I'll risk doing so. The bike is a new Viking step-through frame. It is a fairly low spec bike, but one of only a couple of models I managed to find for sale in...

How much power is needed for a hillclimbing folder?

Kevin, To get up a 1 in 4 without significant pedalling input is not likely to be possible with any UK/EU legal motor. An Ezee Quando might be the nearest bet. Of course, a higher powered motor could do it, but then you are into the territory of scooters rather than electric assist bikes.

Have I brought a load of rubbish?

OK - That bike should be fine for what you want it for (assuming you don't find it too heavy to lift on to back of camper) so you just need to get it working. At the moment, does it work ok for a short while or does it not ever provide enough power to move you along at 10mph plus on the...

Have I brought a load of rubbish?

Bad luck, Pete. The answer to your question as to whether you are better to cut your losses or invest in the prospect of sorting this out depends first of all on whether the bike, were it to be working, would meet your needs or not. - What do you intend to use it for - distance, hilliness...

    New Trek Ride+ electric bike

Interesting to see another of the major bike brands dabbling with an electric. What is the price point? The Bionx has lots of fans but mainly in its high-powered, North American versions (350/500W). People have said in particular that the 250W is not up to climbing UK-style hills. On...

Advice on setting up Tongxin / Ping

Wow - interesting looking bike, Andy! Not seen anything like that - I guess it is a semi-recumbent. I bet that is fun to ride with the Tongxin. Sounds like you are getting great performance. I see you are actually getting a higher average speed than the top speed of the motor's...
