    8fun crank drive kit

How does that work then ? Always get completely bamboozled with all this battery thing. I understood you had to manage charging of LiPos, not charge 100% and cut them out before they lose too much charge - but isn't this a Li-Ion battery ? Everything one reads about them suggests they like to be...

    8fun crank drive kit

Yes - that Samsung is a 500 cycle pack too, not a long life 1,000+ cycle pack like you get supplied on higher end retail bikes. Makes it equivalent of about £1,400 shipped taking cycle life into account - which is an astronomic amount for a battery pack - especially since the bikes it'll be...

    Cycling braking device

Well, there are genuine ones which can cost up to about £20 or more. Or ..... you could just buy a pair of cheaper ones like Clarks which are fine - maybe not last quite as long but only cost about £5 - £6 a pair. I personally don't think the genuine ones are worth it - you can buy 3-4 sets of...

    Cycling braking device

What type of brakes do you have mountainsport ? Rim / disc ? Any specific make / model ? Personally I usually order stuff like that on-line, unless there is a particular time pressure on when I've got time to do the job meaning I need them sooner - or the problem is urgent. Provided you know...

Electric or motor technie geek advice?

Wissy, it does sound like you've got a loose connection somewhere which possibly happened if you went over the speed hump enthusiastically - especially if it was slightly loose already. Can happen from bikes getting shipped ... and although it makes the bike nice and neat the downside of things...

Andew Mitchell's Plebgate bike up on e-bay

^^ It probably rusted up in the time it took for the police to own up to all the dirty work at the crossroads that had been going on ! £10,600 final bid. Right then .....

How luck are we in the UK?

Lol. Governments are the same the world over it seems. The sheer inconsistency of them and the shifting sands are half the reason it's hard to take laws seriously sometimes. The first thing power mongers seem to want to do is undo what the person before did. Just in case we don't notice...

How luck are we in the UK?

Any technical reason why they can't be ? If not then just say if you want to ride them in restricted hours they must be, else you get done for not having one. Simples. If the French can make it an offence not to carry an alcohol breath testing kit in your glove compartment then I'm pretty sure...

How luck are we in the UK?

Anyone is allowed to ride an eBike if they are old enough. No-one is officially allowed to ride a 'fast' one. Point is the 'fast ones' are most dangerous in busy urban areas with congestion and excess numbers of road users and pedestrians. So it follows their use in those areas can be regulated...

How luck are we in the UK?

Not everyone is allowed to ride them though, are they ? At least there IS public transport - and a wider choice of jobs if people can't get to one or the hours don't make it viable. Most rural areas have lost not only their trains but their buses too as more and more resources are poured into...

How luck are we in the UK?

I've always had my reservations about people using fast bikes in big cities (whether electric or not) - the very place they are in large concentrations and being promoted... and brakeless fixed gear bikes have no place on city streets. It's people without a huge infrastructure of public...

is this a good time to buy a new ebike......?

So 47v and an 8.8Ah battery is basically 413Wh.... the 400% assist looks pretty impressive but to be honest that battery it looks about 1/2 what you'd need to really be able to use the assistance available for anything more than a few miles before running out of juice.

is this a good time to buy a new ebike......?

Apologies if this has already been posted but found this quite an interesting article : Electric Bike Buyer's Guide - Which electric bicycle? It's not 100% up-to-date with latest 2013 models having been written in December but interesting nonetheless.

!!!!! HELP me with my 26" Bafang Rear Wheel Build please !!!!!

They can vary depending on the batch (used to be long and thin I believe, but Saneagle and I both got shorter fatter ones over end of last year / start of this one). You'll only know for sure when you actually get it. Mine is 155mm x 210mm x 90mm (approx). There's padding and shrinkwrap...

    NuVinci CVT (Automatic Gears) Hub

I don't think you'll regret your choice. The 8sp hub doesn't give enough benefits back to sway over the convenience and simplicity of riding that Nuvinci, all things considered - imho. Forgetting cost, choosing between the two I'd likely plump for the Nuvinci without hesitation. As you say...

The 'full off-road version' also comes in a 2.1 version and that's what I use on the Trek on tar as well. Very comfy / recommended :).

!!!!! HELP me with my 26" Bafang Rear Wheel Build please !!!!!

.... because Kraken is a standard hardtail MTB and not a full-sus DH bike or one with extra frame welding / slack geometry. There isn't good stability on a standard hardtail bike for high speed riding. They aren't designed for it. Custom-designed high speed bikes that are not racing road bikes...
