    Parallel Batteries

It was because I couldn't work out what the current flow between batteries would be, that I asked the question. Having a notional 1008Wh to utilise, I couldn't wait to get out there. I've just done a 16mile ride going up one of the longer climbs around. When I got back combined resting...

    Parallel Batteries

Thanks Neal, just needed the reassurance. I've made the splitter with Anderson power poles all round. The common cable leg is 12awg and the two battery legs are 14awg, so don't think there will be a problem with current. I think the Ezee controller is 20A max, though I never use it in max.

    Parallel Batteries

My 3-4 year old Ezee battery (I suspect it's pouch cells) is starting to suffer from some serious sag. I have an Insat battery that I want to parallel it with to extend range and stress the both batteries less. I've made and tested a splitter lead but find I'm nervous of connecting them...

Q128C seems very slow - normal or not?

Undo the nuts, take the axle out of the dropouts, rotate the axle by 180 degrees, put it back in. You may need to release some slack in the cable that goes to the motor, so have some cable ties handy to re fit it. You want the cable to loop down, like this (I know this is a front hub, but the...

    Puncture proofing tyres

I use Schwalbe Marathon Plus tyres, never had a problem. There is some debate about their level of grip because they use a hard compound, again never affected me. In my front (motor wheel) I also use slime. Probably overkill, just a belt and braces approach.

    Carrera Crossfire ebike Battery Charger

Second that. Plenty of good bike around in the £1k bracket, without all the Carrera problems. The biggest seemingly being Halfrauds. Keep cycling, it's good all round and well worth the moola. p.s. I have a Carrera I converted myself. Never had a problem with it. Funny that!

How often does the bbso1 need to be in the correct gear?

I've never owned one of these so no expert. However any motor has a range of revs which it is happiest working within. As your motor is driving through your gear train, the gear you are in will affect its speed of rotation. If you are in too high a gear going up hill the motor will be...

    Rich Bit Top680

You too eh? Last time I got pulled in my van (serves me right for being out in a transit at midnight), it was about 5or 6 years ago. One gut was from Manchester, the other from Liverpool. I just thought they were on some sort of stress relieving break!

    What a good feeling...

:D Well done. I treated my bike to a Pashley Ding Dong bell. It's big, chrome and has the most sonorous tone ever. Of course it's absolutely no bloody good if the soppy twit walking out in front of you is looking at their 'phone with headphones in.

    Hi Folks its me.

Hi Jim, A bloke of your size would need a motor to match. Have a look at the BPM motor here, it's the 3rd kit down: http://wooshbikes.co.uk/?hubkits If you use a frame battery it centres some of the weight. Front hub are fine for road/canal path (use torque brackets in suspension forks), for...

Q128C seems very slow - normal or not?

Speaking as an electrician, any cable entering a device from the top will allow water into the device. Doesn't matter what you do to it, water will get in. Turn the axle so the cable faces down and forms a drip loop, you'll save yourself a mountain of aggravation.

    The new best headlight

Couldn't you just buy 4 genuine cells when the run time gets too short? I have the same 4 cell holder running a different light and am noticing a drastically reducing run time, so I'll probably do that. Problem is my night riding is very intermittant so they don't get used much and no battery...

    Great White North

Wow - makes me feel like a wimp  However I think I could handle that better than the persistent precipitation of the aqueous persuasion that we've been havingo_O:D at least your bike isn't covered in mud. Small blessings!

    Wired bike lights

Yep - 6v will give you legal but otherwise useless lights. Good to have so you've always got lights providing your main battery has charge. However if you actually want to see where you're going you need something more serious.

Hi - thinking about converting to ease a long commute

Well any excuse for a new toy (should read tool). 7 miles each way should be a breeze. I'm a leisure cyclist and, since e biking, anything under 15 miles just doesn't feel like a ride. Kudos are also well thought of on here and the alamo does look nice. For me, I'd like to see a...

Hi - thinking about converting to ease a long commute

It seems to me that your Giant would make a good conversion. However, you're not going to get it done by next Wednesday. I have one conversion using a Panda Eco kit on a hybrid. It will run at the cut off speed (approx 17.5mph) in assist 3. It's not a particularly torquey motor, but sounds...

Hello, good evening and ... happy christmas

Oooo more main roads than I'm used to, however more essential cake breaks than where I am. As for 1:4's, I have been known to laugh whilst tackling them - occaisionally! Certainly don't route plan to avoid them. Newcastle Emlyn is good for cafe breaks, plenty of quiet roads around, spectacular...

Mechanical disk or hydraulic disk for fast bike

Front hydraulic, rear mech. The feel and braking power of the hydraulic is far superior. And there's no fiddle with them. If you are averaging that sort of higher speed you need the stopping power, especially in traffic. Why dick about with your life for the sake of a few quid?
