EBC kit to 25yo MTB Commuter?

Front hubs can be 'lively' on loose or slimey surfaces. They are also a bit unpredictable in low speed manoeuvres. As you can see, I ride one so know it's foibles. Mine has a rear rack battery and regularly has panniers full of shopping with no ill effect in about 4500 miles. I think if you...

Are good times just around the corner? It seems they may be!

Totally agree. AK for primeminister ! Seems to me that the situation in this country stems from the time of Ernie Marples. 60's transport minister (who was in the pocket of the motor industry) and his buddy Beeching. It's gonna take a long time to alter the car centric thinking here...

Are good times just around the corner? It seems they may be!

But subsidies don't work. An example. When I had my solarpanels installed, the subsidised feed in tarrif payement rate was around 42pence per unit. I had a 1.75Kw array installed (small roof). 6 months later, when tarrif had halved, my neighbour had a full 4Kw array installed costing the same...

    40 mile round trip commute - 20mph - help please :)

Don't know if this helps, but it has been oft said that a rider consumes 10 - 20w/h per miles. Obviously the stronger the rider the lower the consumption, but the higher the speed the higher the consumption. So 40 miles @ 20w/h per mile would mean 800w/h. Looks like the triangle battery would...

    Which bike maintenance stand?

I've got the Aldi stand, and it's true, the bike has to be balanced otherwise it rotates. I put mine in without the battery. Haven't found a way yet to hold the missus' big bear LS.

New member wanting to get a cargo on a budget

That's very interesting. Coupled with a rear hub conversion would make a very versatile bike. Wonder if it would work with a suspension fork?

    Wisper intermittent fault.

Hi Jim, Sounds like there may be a bad connection. Look where the cable comes out of the motor axle, follow the cable, there will probably be a plug within a short distance. Make sure it is fully pushed together. Can't be a battery connection because you say all the lights were on. Let us know...

    1st Bike Project

Here's one: https://www.pandaebikes.com/shop/conversion-kits/panda-250-pro-silver-ebike-kit/ However, you're gonna be paying about the same for a battery.

    1st Bike Project

As the old Irish yokel said, when asked for directions, 'It's simple, but I wouldn't start from here if I were you'. 26 miles a day - on that? I think you are setting yourself up for disappointment. Front hub with a rear rack battery may be possible, BUT (as D8 said) brakes are woefully...

    Torque Arm fastener help

OK. From your photo's, you can do exactly what I did. Here's the original post that D8veh sent regarding this: I would make a piece like this out of 2mm steel sheet. Bend the two tabs over to trap them between the caliper mount posts and the adapter. It'll be in tension, which means it...

    Torque Arm fastener help

Didn't drill the forks at all. The 'F' bracket is fitted to the caliper post with the caliper bolts. Need a photo of the disc side of your forks to see if you can do the same.

    Torque Arm fastener help

Not sure if this will help, but here's before and after pictures of my torque bracket. I made the 'F' bracket out of 1.5mm steel. It fits between the caliper post mounts and the extension bracket. Torque bracket is fron Cyclezee.

    Sing while you cycle

Nice clean recording and a good mix that leaves the main vocal clear, you have good diction so the lyrics can be clearly heard. Don't we all behave as though we're immortal? This despite ageing bringing a growing certainty of ones impending demise. Maybe there is something in the human that is...

    Help with brakes

You may be able to fit a two part one, which side is it on? Otherwise, a temporary solution may be to gaffa tape it to the crank, should get you going.
