Roadrat Alfine 8 with G370 hub build.

The Green treaded Panaracer Gravel Kings have given way to Sky Blue Gravel King semi slicks. The old rear having worn beyond the knobbly bits and become a little thin. Swapped the chain over (part of my rotation ) cleaning regime. Cleaned off all the built up detritis that accumulates on the...

Roadrat Alfine 8 with G370 hub build.

Another year has past by and the Cotic Roadrat build still going very well, no issues at all regarding the Alfine 8 , Bafang G370 front hub or the KT 9 mosfet sinewave controller. Actually quite boring which is nice to say. So yesterday being a BH , I decided to give the bike a clean and...

PAS kicking in too slowly for hill starts - decade old Diamond (Batribike)

6kph is a walk assist and means just that , it isn't for riding with or a quick start assist. It is (due to the bikes weight ) a means of aiding it's fwd movement when needing to push the bike. Thumb throttle is then legal , pedal first then the throttle becomes active . If it was purely...

    Mid-drive hybrid?

Hub drive & KT 9 Mosfet controller, being France one will need 250w rated motor so AKM 100 or AKM 128C with a nice etched aluminium stick label/ plate on it. Reason form AKM is the nicer lower internal gearing which can enable one to ride easier with no power thus increasing the days range...

    Argos £245 folding Bike Improvements

I think one would be very surpised to see 85/90% efficacy at the wheel, typically most hub manufacturers give a much lower % rate.

    Battery Fires

I shall still procure my own high spec cells and build my own battery packs.

Revos conversion kit on BTWIN Tilt 120 folding bike

The Revos rides much like a normal bike without power, one can maually adjust the drive to clear the tyre with an Allen key. The drive is akin to a speed control system in that one gets max power most of the time. The advantages of the system is super light for ligthweight bike and no power...

Revos conversion kit on BTWIN Tilt 120 folding bike

RevolutionWorks ceased production of the Revos approx. years ago now. The system isn't perfect the original Mk1 I have is constntlya in conttact with the tyre, there is no mechanism to release it to and from the tyre manually when in use. One needs a rear tyre which has little or no central...

Review of Argos £285 Folding Bike

Before upgrading controller , it would be nice to know ehat crappy cells are used and their spec however if they are no name china cells then one would be playing a guessing game. Most on here who poo poo hub bikes do so because they ahve only tried crappy speed controllers very few try out a...

    Help! Tongsheng thumb throttle

In the UK it would make it a twist and go and not pedal first so illegal by law. UK has a few legal options. For non twist and go one needs a KT set up to pedal first. By a Wisper bike that conforms to twist & go via a V5. Take your bike to a test station and have it tested so that it conforms .

Carrera replacement after market rear motor

It is a pretty standard split disc with a retaining clip, one can get them from a few sellers and on ebay.

    UK use of throttle

To reiterate the above . No it isn't illegal to have a throttle , it must though be a certified throttle by DVLA via test center so a test certificate/V5 is needed ( This is a once in a lifetime certificate) Or it must only operate if one pedals first. One isn't allowed a twist & go or thumb...

Review of Argos £285 Folding Bike

The cells used must be junk cheap china cells. You guys really need to open the battery to see. If I had bought one I would have done so as I would 100% replace with a Kt controller.

    Over voltage protection

Generic chargers don't detect anything, they are a dumb electric apperatus. It is the BMS that allows any charge to take place , the charger is just a voltage regulator that turns 240v ac voltage in to lower safer dc voltage. Short charging is nonsense and one gains very little over the...

    Swytch motor varients

For 26" or 700c the hub winding could be anything from 201- 300rpm. What you need to find out from other users of switch hubs is can the display speed be changed to more then 15.5mph and if so what is the max load speed. I would think 260/270rpm would be used for 26" or 700c.

Review of Argos £245 E-move folder

Any bike when powered on over a wet metal cover would spin out on the rear, it isn't just a hub issue. Oner reason why I stay clear of them and never apply my brakes when on/over them

Help! Pendleton Somerby Ebike - battery casing has disintergrated around the screws

I should rephrase and say Wisper aren't the only legal 250w ebike that can have a throttle but rather they are the only UK 250w/EAPC brand that offer the legal throttle route via certification. Other brands can offer the same service but afaik , no one else does.

    Swytch motor varients

Aikema make five or six variants of the 100sx . You are likely correct with the first four digits being the date , after that they are likely simply serial numbers. The variations have so called varying Nm values so the 5xx/6xx could be a code for the Nm value, might be a factory code if not...

    Help! Decade old Diamond (Batribike)

Early batribike used generic comms /battery wiring , later newer models I believe gained some kind of comm's maybe even CANbus type.
