    Brexit, for once some facts.

Anyone blathering on about a general election needs to have a look at the Fixed Term Parliaments Act of 2011. There cannot be a general election until 2020, except in extraordinary circumstances which certainly do not apply here. I can excuse the audience of Question Time not knowing their...

    Brexit, for once some facts.

Evil to triumph? We've voted to leave the EU, not for genocide. Get some perspective, the EU is a treaty organisation that has lasted a very short time in historical terms. Countries join, countries leave, the organisation evolves, it may last for many more years, it may be gone in ten.

    Brexit, for once some facts.

There are dozens, if not hundreds, of civil servants and diplomats scurrying around Whitehall and our embassies who wouldn't split that particular hair. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-36749993

    Brexit, for once some facts.

Looks like the barmy notion of a second referendum has been formally put to bed. The Foreign and Commonwealth Office says the exit process has started, so maybe it is time to put the debate behind us and get behind the inevitable...

    Brexit, for once some facts.

Any change is unsettling and brings some risk, so I agree the more cautious decision would be to remain. Your importing business model certainly faces some challenges, but presumably the heart of your concerned Chinese contact's concerns is he will no longer be able to take your money. Thus...

    Brexit, for once some facts.

Usual patronising arrogance of the Remain losers. It's one of the reasons why you lost. Promoting your side of the argument is one thing, but telling those who disagree they are stupid ignorant bigots is another. Had Remain won, I would have shrugged my shoulders and then made the best of it...

    Brexit, for once some facts.

Sour-faced garbage. We still have a permanent seat on the security council of the UN, one of only five countries in the world to have that. A mini-policeman is exactly what we are, because we certainly can't claim to be a big one. I cannot understand why you are so desperate to talk down your...

Clacking noise - Kalkhoff Impulse 2 motor

The retailer is in an awkward position. Delving into individual cases on a public forum is only likely to descend into a tit for tat argument. Inevitably, there will be two sides to the story, and the retailer will be properly reluctant to publicise the conduct of the customer in some cases...

Is buying 500w ebike a good idea to commute through the city?

Practically, the difference is less than that because only part of the journey will be spent at full cruising speed. For much of the time - stopping, starting, accelerating, turning at junctions, battling traffic - the slow bike will be travelling at the same pace as the fast one.

Clacking noise - Kalkhoff Impulse 2 motor

Identifying 'these dealers' is not too difficult given that 50 Cycles has virtually a monopoly on the sale of Kalkhoff ebikes in the UK.

Is buying 500w ebike a good idea to commute through the city?

How far is your commute? Unless it's many miles, the time difference on an illegally fast ebike will be tiny, and easily wiped out by traffic lights or a stopping at a junction.

    Coast to Coast

Nice bike, well suited to the job. If you have the 500wh battery, it will stand you in good stead. Don't forget to add to the load by picking up a pebble from the beach in Whitehaven, which you ceremoniously chuck into the sea at Roker in Sunderland.

Raleigh Motus or Giant Prime E+2 ?

The crossbar will be a bit more rigid and lighter, so if it fits and you have no problem mounting and dismounting it, it's probably the one to go for. Always tempting to try to get something for less, but £1,500 is fair to both sides. Sounds like the couple are not short of a shilling or two...

    Scott v Haibike.

Seems to me the full-sus bits on Haibikes can give problems, but the hard tails are as good as any other decent brand.

Disc brakes can take a little while to bed in. The process can be accelerated by doing a few sharp stops from speed.

Which goes to show that on a bicycle you are never more than a fraction of a second away from a calamity.
