    Cytronex Genesis Day One problem

Hey Bruno you seem to have replaced everything but the rider, have you yourself been checked?;) My battery connector also sparks when plugged into the controller, sometimes quite feircely even though there is no load on the circuit except for the capacitors filling up in the controller??? So I...

    A question about prepared timber

Pine, cedar, larch, oak, tropical hardwoods all will grey in the sun unless uv protected. Spruce is the cheapest and most commonly available softwood and is naturally very white. It is almost always treated with preservative as it rots so quickly when damp. Pine often will turn more yellow...

    A question about prepared timber

Iron oxidises wood doesn't. The sun tends to bleach unprotected wood and turn it greyish, though this depends on the variety. White pine or deal is standard builders merchent stuff and again varies in colour depending on the preservative the timber mill uses. Most furniture is treated with...

    Lyen controller stopped working

We are really missing D8vey here, dont you think? - if you measured 1500watts on CA thats only 20amps or so. However those lipos are so powerful you really need that fuse. At 40 amps your putting nearly 3000watts thro the motor-can it handle that kind of power? Cant you limit the current using...

Is this the begining of the end for my Wisper battery?

I have had similar problems with my 6 month old battery. The cells all read 4.22v after charging except for one which reads 3.88v. I thought about charging that cell individually with a balance charger but would need to solder up a special one cell connector I suppose and even then, might only...

Hi Neptune, plans afoot to divert the Thames this way. Or if you think your hosepipe's long enuff youre welcome to plug in here.

It has rained here in Argyll for six months nonstop. rain, rain, rain and a bit more rain....

    Replacing Li-ion Cell

I consider that our man Frank mebe due a round of applause here. What he lacks in punctuation he surely makes up for in technical insight. The same first cell in my battery is 3.7v, the rest 4.1v and me thinking its the cold weather slowing the bike down. Will try independently charging it as...

KU93 36V controller cope with 48V Headway batt?

One other thing I thought of trying was changing the 45 tooth? chainset-wheel thing to 53 tooth. That would give higher speeds but reduce the torque for hill climbing. However that looks like quite a difficult mod on the tonaro unless perhaps the new chainset could be bolted alongside the...

    battery meter

Hi ade, I'm new too but I think most of the techie guys are over on the Kalkhoff thread squabbling about amp hours. Most of the battery indicators just reflect battery voltage and are connected up to the controller. A watt meter is much better cause it measures the current as well and therefore...

KU93 36V controller cope with 48V Headway batt?

I am currently looking at a number of re-volting options also. Better not push that shunt mod too far on that wee controller. A good alternative is the KU60 which I believe can handle both 36 &48v and is only 20mm longer so may well fit ok. Connections are fairly compatible also exept for the...

KU93 36V controller cope with 48V Headway batt?

Would be interested to see how you intend to fit the new bigger battery and controller. The bike rack monting system on the Tonaro does not lend itself well to conversion and a bigger controller will not fit in the existing compartment..

    Cheap eBay winforce lipo

Thats very interesting Scotty. Those winforce batteries seem to be about the cheapest around so its good you can give us a good critique. I didn't realise a 6 fet controller could take as much as 44v - the capacitor is rated at 50v max isnt it?

    Crank drive versus hub drive

The hill outside my cave is very steep indeed but my crank driven iron horse can do it practically unassisted (by me) running at 36v and a nominally, continuous etc 250 watts (but actually around 500 watts or more.) I wonder if anyone else has a hub driven bike running at the same 250 watt...

Cyclamatic: The Beastamatic is dead! Long live the Beastamatic

well done, what a great thread. can anyone tell me what the wee red light in the KU60 controller is for. when powered up- it flashes constantly which I never noticed before-probably cause its usually switched off when I open the casing-I hope. also if a new controller has only one low voltage...

    a revolting human cannonball

ok thats great I thought it had to be either a 36v combo or a 48v(battery and controller). So I can mount the new battery on the stock 36v battery with a switch between using the same controller(which accepts upto 60v). Perfect! And thanks for the kind and touching concern regarding the shape...

    a revolting human cannonball

My other/better half returned from the Unda Da Pound shop with a brand new shiny black human canonball type helmet which she insists I wear whilst out on my bicycle. But whatever her motives may be, I just look silly(sillier?) in her headgear of choice and anyway do not feel the need for it at...

    BMSBattery Controller Amps

I imagine most of their controllers come with connectors but the motors , brakes etc do not. Probably have to thread some of these cables thro the loom so makes sense to match them only when they arrive at the controller case. Controllers seem to vary in what functions they offer.

    BMSBattery Controller Amps

I was thinking of upgrading from ku63 to ku93 to get a few more amps, but also then going 48v in due course. Its a cheap controller and accepts pedelec and throttle I understand. Be nice if it accepted the cycle analyst too but thereyego. many thanks for the advice.

    Picaxe Query

I think that this industry and this country need people like d8vey and haku in charge, not just messing in sheds but teaching in universities - but mebe then you are already.
