    Hybrid a la Francaise

Flecc, in the interest of democratic accountability and freedom of blether I wish you would elaborate more on the attempted prosecution story.

    drinking and cycling

Speaking perhaps for those with more exhuberant habits, I find the the whole thing both disquieting and offensive. Surely the function of law is to enable a society to coexist without harm. Statute law has become so obsessed with it's own importance that it has lost one of the main requirements...

    DaaHub goes to Spain!

Wow, there is something almost Godly about being able to buy olives and langoustine and wine in a park in the sun at producers prices. Spain is such a beautiful country with people so full of health and vitality and common sense and optimism, these financial capitalists who are raping our...

    DaaHub goes to Spain!

Must be awesome touring the mountains of southern spain on an ebike. A steady 15mph breeze to keep you cool (or in Eds case a 35mph gale) and cheap tapas in the shade. I spent alot of time down there long ago, bet it not so cheap now.

    DaaHub goes to Spain!

My God, Ive never seen a bike move at that kind of velocity before, were you being chased by the police? Ok its the costa del crime but do they really tolerate that kind of high speed whooping it up on and off pavements and multiple near collisions. Two old folk must be in cardiac arrest and...

What would happen if... 48V Alien Aurora?

No sorry. Try ebay for a Turnigy watt meter at about £25 or much better and more expensive a cycle analyst from ebike.ca et al at bout £100. The CA will allow you to set the low voltage cut off point which is great using lipo but not so important with a bms. A Turnigy wont but it's a great wee...

What would happen if... 48V Alien Aurora?

I have been running on 44v lipo (which is 50v freshly charged) for a couple of months using the stock 36v 6fet controller. The capacitors are also 50v and Ive had no problems so far. If the controller does let go, just get a new one and dont worry about any modding. You should get a wattmeter to...

Bike reviews - Minimum post count

I would like to express my sincere gratitude to all the old electricians who have taken the time to lend others the benefit of their knowledge and advice. It is to their expertise that I look on the all too few occasions I have the time to visit this fine forum. Personally I can do without the...

    Fallbrook Technologies

Cant imagine it being any use at all on front hub powered bikes like the one featured. But I can imagine it being of great value on a high powered crank driven setup. The proof of de pudding will be how well the concept can be made to work in practice, so it's good that some manf are attempting...

Hub or Derailleur, Which Is Best?

The RMartin R10 bike in the article I referenced is of course the same as our own Tonaro Bighit. The power level he quotes is far in excess of what most commonly experience, or for that matter, call cycling.

Hub or Derailleur, Which Is Best?

Changing down on a steep hill is for me a teeth gritting sprocket gnashing experience which jus dont sound good. I dont doubt the reliability, durability or efficiency of the derailleur transmission system. Perhaps if I get rid of the pedelec sensor and ride on throttle alone I would be able to...

Hub or Derailleur, Which Is Best?

I am not an engineer nor even a gifted cyclist, however I don't have to be either to see potential for failure in a transmission system designed specifically for personal pedal power. None of the crank manf so far as Im aware have upgraded their derailleur systems to cope with the additional...

Hub or Derailleur, Which Is Best?

Maybe so but it offers a much smoother alternative to the harsh and noisy derailleur system and maybe the better solution for a crank driven bike. I dont know about Shimano or Rhollof systems having never tried them but clearly there are issues here with the Bosch drive.

Hub or Derailleur, Which Is Best?

Tonaro crank driven bikes would be much better fitted with the Nuvinci. The forces on a derailleur or hub gears are considerable with crank driven bikes and if I could find a cheap nuvinci for my Tonaro I'd fit it in a second. They are currently sold in Australia sensibly prefitted with the...

    Importing electric bicycle conversion kits

Hey Doug, lots of people over here selling their own thing or bits and pieces of others but what would be nice is a UK based Grin Tech type store that stocks most ebike stuff including batteries, lipo, RC accessories etc. Free next day delivery to scottish highlands be nice too.

    Right crunch time (offroad pedelec)

I run a tonaro bighit (hate the name) on 44volt lipos. It feels like a heavy bike at 36v but at 44v-50v it is as light as a feather and zips up and over anything. The throttle is great for hill starts and when nipping thro tight narrows where you cant use the peddles to clear rocks and stuff...

Ezee battery Vs Crystalyte Vs Cellman Lifepo4

The other advantage of cellman's lifepo is the huge C rate which can be matched only by rc lipos as far as Im aware. Most factory bikes come with lith ion or polymer cells with a C rate of only 1 or 2 which with a 10a/h battery means respectively 10 or 20 amps constant draw. Jerry's pack though...

    Cytronex Genesis Day One problem

thanks Flecc. Its just that the sparking on connection seems way too intense for an unloaded circuit-hot enough to part melt a connector even!
