    Cyclists and mobile phones

The ASL's are as much or more useful to motorbikes and they cause little obstruction to bicycles. As a motorcyclists and cyclist i use them on both forms of transport routinely. Ideally they should be marked for all two wheels traffic, so that they have a safe area after filtering through a...

Surprising fitness gain from riding the Aurora

Jerry, i have to agree on the spring weather. Today taking the trail i've not tried since October the mud was fairly dry, at least there was a dry line through it, and being away from the traffic for longer makes my commute even more enjoyable. I may even start trying to run again, a friend...

disappointing experiences of local bike shops

The Bike Book by Haynes is quite good. Although if you're not confident changing a tyre i'm not sure i'd encourage you to DIY your maintenance. I know that the Edinburgh Bicycle Co-operative hold bike spannering courses which are highly regarded.

I have 2 broken spokes on Optibike

Replace them as soon as you can or more may go, or worse the wheel could crumple. Then keep an eye on it, if more go, chances are you're going to need the wheel rebuilt as it tends to mean the spokes are worn where they bend to meet the hub. This is usually caused by not having your wheel...

Surprising fitness gain from riding the Aurora

This morning i left the Aurora in the shed and took my mountain bike to work. Its was easy, really really easy. It appears that because i've used the Aurora and Cyclamatic everyday since returning to work after New Year, my fitness level has gone through the roof without me even realising. I...

    Noisy Spokes

I'd suggest you get a bike shop to true your wheel, it shouldn't cost more than £15 and could save you more in the long run.

    Hmm.....Suspicious wisper for sale

I'm with eddio, it still looks suspicious and none of the responses seem particularly convincing so far. I reported my suspicions to eBay, i did not say it was stolen. I think thats quite in line with eBay rules and regulations. Selling the charger? I dont buy that for one minute. Reason? Its...

    The Cost Of Charging

It depends on your electricity tariff. Mine costs 14p per KW, so just over a third of that to charge the 10ah 36v Aurora battery (360wh), plus a little the charger loses in heat. 5p perhaps?

Why does nobody sell branded bikes with electric kits ready installed?

Frank, thats exactly what i was after. Looks like a good kit on a good base bike. I'm tempted, have you heard any feedback about them? The prices seem reasonable for what it is.

Why does nobody sell branded bikes with electric kits ready installed?

Don't get me wrong, i wouldn't consider doing this myself, i like my career just the way it is :) . I just cant understand why others arent. All those overheads could be covered fairly easily i think, you'd be selling a top notch product. I just cant get my head around all these, heavy...

    Left Or Right

And here's the wireless one from 50cycles Front lights, rear lights and indicators So the indicators exist, question is, would cars pay any attention to them? Are they wide enough to clearly indicate your intentions anyway?

Why does nobody sell branded bikes with electric kits ready installed?

I doubt they were subsidizing it, the kit doesn't cost them £1400 just because their distributor sells it on for that, neither does the bike cost them retail price, the margin on bikes is pretty big. They charge more for their kit because they're discouraging that option. I remember years ago...
