Crank drive comparisons - Impulse .v. Bosch .v. Panasonic

My point is there's always a trade off, perhaps in your case it's power usage and/or range and/or weight and/or cost. For example your bike isn't using 12wh per mile ;)

That's a bit harsh and judgemental, for all you know he only uses it on private property.

Crank drive comparisons - Impulse .v. Bosch .v. Panasonic

I'm sure it would, however there has to be some trade off, if it's capable of good high speed and exceptionally steep climbs. My car will go from 0-70mph with a third gear start, it's not very efficient to do that though.

Crank drive comparisons - Impulse .v. Bosch .v. Panasonic

Strava is full of errors anyway, for example this road is actually flat: Strava Segment | Mosley St Climb Hardknott Pass, that's a real test, long and it gets steeper and steeper with parts that are definitely in excess of 1 in 3.

That's not even steep :p Strava Segment | Withens New Rd Climb Calderdale is full of insane climbs.

That's still the key to me. It seems that the nicest places to ride are all in the national parks, and all the national parks around me, the Lake District, Snowdonia, Yorkshire Dales and the Peak District all come with plenty of exceptionally steep hills.

    Folder on a motorcycle?

For 20-30 miles rides you would want the six speed Brompton, you would likely find the three speed too limited, it's better suited to the city.

    Folder on a motorcycle?

I have to agree with Jonah, as a motorbiker, a Brompton may just fit on the pillion seat of a big bike, no chance with any of the 20" wheel folders though. You will have to give consideration to the sharp bits of the Brompton tearing the seat and scratching the side pods too.

Long range: Bosch 400Wh (Gepida Reptila) or Impulse 15Ah ( Kalhoff Agattu)?

How long is longish? Obviously the 15ah battery is likely to have longer range than the 11ah battery, but unless you're thinking of 50+ miles, either should have sufficient range if the riding is gentle. Between the two bikes, range aside, best to test ride them both and see which you like the best.

Panasonic's response to the new Bosch motor

It still has the battery behind the seat tube, i don't see why when the battery is so small. The long wheelbase ebikes feel so slow to steer, their length also means to put them on a car rack (mine at least) you have to remove a wheel or they protrude on each side.

A question for all electric bike londoners ??

Exactly Flecc, i was away for a couple of years, but still happily riding my ebike. It wasn't until recently that i returned to this excellent site for some advice on choosing a new bike.

Woosh Sport CD review - anyone?

Looks a nice bike, one point though, the page states it's suitable for riders 5′ 5″ to 6′, then later says it's suitable for 5′ 5″- 6′ 3″. I would imagine the former is more accurate as i'm 6'1" and i find 18" frames a little too small.

    Consumables bike warranty

This only really seems a good idea if most of your customers are local, and from my experience, a lot of electric bike buyers travel a long way to find a dealer. Even if you sent out the consumables by post, it would take a couple of days. If someone commutes on their bike it makes more sense to...
