Wisper 905SE City S, first impressions

Just had a chance to ride my dad's new 905SE City S from Valley Scooters. Aside from the dealer forgetting to tighten the pedals and the rack being way off-centre its seemed setup ok. So, i had chance to ride it back to back to my Aurora, which is of course an illegal 350w bike. The Wisper...

    camcorder for helmet

Got to agree. I strongly suspect mine has the same internals as the Veho Muvi type you have, just shoved into a torch body. However, i am considering getting something better, i quite like the Vlogging (video blogging) idea that a lot of bikers to do. I could do an electric pushbike Vlog. I...

    Slipping chain

Also, make sure you get the right chain for your number of sprocket gears. 7/8 speed are the same. ;)

    Slipping chain

As a rule of thumb, if the chain is worn out, the rear sprockets and chainring will be too, so replace all three parts. If you fit one new part of the three then it will wear much more quickly. Derailleur jockey wheels dont *need* changing each time, but for a couple of quid each i do tend...

    BEBA electric bike Day

In that case we need to have it in my back garden, because that's preferable to me. Midlands... middle-lands... in the middle of the country, easy access for everyone. Thats why the NEC is in Birmingham.

    BEBA electric bike Day

Good call, with test rides up to the Ponderosa Cafe, that'd be a good test hill! Buxton, also good, but the ride over the Cat & Fiddle might not be as much fun. ;)

    camcorder for helmet

Its a Casco eMotion, Evans Cycles and 50Cycles sell them, expensive, but worth it IMO.

Removing old gear cable from ez shifter ?

Couple of little tips. If you can, run a little solder into the end of the cable to prevent fraying, much better than those crimp on cable ends. Push a blob of grease through each section of outer with the cable. This is to inhibit corrosion more than to lubricate. Don't re-use old...

    2011 Powabykes

They'll try anything to sell step-thru's in this country :p It wont work, they have always been known as ladies bikes, and indeed were designed like that for riding in long skirts originally. Handling and ridgidity is compromised too, there's good reason the traditional diamond frame refuses to...

    camcorder for helmet

Yep, well spotted, its a bit of Deansgate and Victoria Station then across Corporation Street. I work for the Co-op. Here's another YouTube video using the helmet mount. Bit of Duotec on the side of the Casco: And roll some around the camera. Actually it doesnt need as much as i put...

    sub £1000 bikes

I agree with z0mb13e, for the £400 price the Cyclamatic is amazing value, and even for £500 its very good. If they'd spec'd slightly better forks it would really be unbeatable.

    Spot the non bicycle rider!!

Another good reason to wear a helmet camera. Nice to have evidence if you have a collision with a pedestrian, as the law seems to be very much on their side in general.

    camcorder for helmet

The significantly better helmet cameras all seem to be £300-500, which i think may be too much, unless you can find another use for them. Having done a little research, the most popular three are: The GoPro HD Hero which looks like a toy, but gives great quality. The Contour HD or GPS (GPS...

    camcorder for helmet

Another test video here, taken on my real commute this morning, the handlebar mount keeps slipping down, but its still fairly good i think. Also, i've sorted the helmet mount, using self-adhesive Duotec, which is a little like velco, except much stronger and more durable (also more expensive...

Looking for the impossible combination of features vs price

I should add that looking after the chain shouldnt be hard, a good blast of WD40 at the end of each ride will rid you of salt/muck/water, put the bike away for the night then a quick spray of a good long lasting spray can lube like Finish Line Cross Country. No need to clean the whole bike...

Looking for the impossible combination of features vs price

Hub geared bike with a front wheel kit? The old Subway 8 would've been ideal, but Carrera dont seem to do it anymore. Even then, you might struggle for the money, you'd need to find a hub-geared bike around £500, and there arent so many of those.

Kalkhoff Pro Connect Disassembly pointer for someone who knows nowt?

Agree with Aldby. Good excuse to get a new tool, a crank extractor, which is a must for every cyclist's tool box :)

    bike protection

Personally, i'm lazy, so my own bike has security QR's with a special key, a bit like a locking wheel nut for cars!
