Prices of the electricity we use to charge

My 18 y/o 56 plate astra diesel estate (owned for 14 years) is good for another year having had a svc and mot this week, to show how much I use my bike for errands and getting about my car mileage for the mot calender year was just shy of 400 miles. It doesn't pay me to get rid of it for a...

Battery Weight vs Range... a dilemma

Going 48v over 36v as seen does add quite a bit more weight , depending where the weight is placed is the issue. When I carried my 23.2ah 48v battery over the rear wheel the rack was fitted as far forward and as low as I could get it over the wheel/mudguard to make handling much better, in...

Battery Weight vs Range... a dilemma

Pink is one of Sam's often used cell wrap 22F, 26F, 26H, 26J, 29E, 30Q & 35E are all pinkies and most popularly used battery cells. I carried both a 11ah (22F) & 13ah (26F) for about 100 miles range though I used a rear rack top bag when I had the oxydrive kit with the superb Bafang CST hub...

Trace Velo disk brake pad test

Yes mine are all resin marked , I use resin or sintered . The latter squeal more in the rain initially until the road crap burns off , sometimes if they suffer winter contamination I remove them and rub them together with washing up liquid. Rinse then lightly sand the sfc's, decontaminate...

    Swytch bike problems

Can you tell us in which manner/how it stopped working ? Any display error codes ? If the display comes on /stays on then battery connection can be ruled out, that leaves either PAS, controller or motor halls. If the motor is ok and controller are ok then the walk assist mode should work...

Battery Weight vs Range... a dilemma

Any genuine 18650 cell will be in the area of 46g - 48g no matter the mah rating, likewise a 21700 /68g, 20700/58- 62g and 20650/55-58g.

Trace Velo disk brake pad test

I prefer resin/organic as the bite is better though they wear quicker and are less squeaky . A new pair of resin lasted me about 30 miles on the S/Downs due to the abrasive chalk/mud mix which makes for a nice grinding paste. However callipers are pretty well suitable to any pad compound, what...

Battery Weight vs Range... a dilemma

18650 = 47/ 48g typically. 21700 = 68/69g typically . 20ah would likely be Sam 50E or LG M50 21700's so 40 cells, 2,76kg. 10.4ah would both be 40 cells as well, 7.68kg. Typically one will be near 4.8 kg lighter, a little more weight is saved as only one case , one BMS , less wiring and less...

Battery Weight vs Range... a dilemma

Not 29E cells if 10.4ah/374wh (10s4p) as the figures don't add up. Cells must have been 26F as 29E would give 11.6 ah (10s4p). Besides that battery weight will be the same. One 20ah battery will be approx. 1.25kg - 1.4kg lighter then a pair of 10.4 ah.

Oxygen S Cross MK2 Display Compatibility

KT and Lishui are not compatible , it is highly likely the wire sequence differs even though the same pin number count is used. Bar the nine pin motor julet , there is no standard otherwise in wire sequence. Also it is possible the Lishui 1t4 is damaged ?

Oxygen S Cross MK2 Display Compatibility

1t4 wire sequence is likely the culprit, one of the RX/TX lines may not be in sequence , respectively the data receive and transmit lines.

    Crossfire Rear Rim

A good battery will sag 0.3 -0.5v during use but one wouldn't see the battery meter drop a bar , in your case the battery cells are showing ageing thru use or life ageing . Removing the speed limit would only make the battery worse and one wouldn't see 24 miles likely 15 or so. As has been said...

    Help! Speed Sensor Question

My bbs 01 woudn't work with a broken speed sensor , though maybe the new 01b's are ok. In the end though I ditched it in favour of my hubs which are I find far more reliable .

    Shimano hub oil substitute

ATF for an oil bath / drain to cleanse/flush the unit, cut the top off a 2ltr fizz bottle, place the gearhub internals in side then cover with ATF. Leave a few hours then suspend the gearhub above the oil to allow to drain. 75w 90 synthetic gear oil is used for diy /self maintenance , though a...

    Another Sur-ron accident.

There is a road legal Suron , it does though need to be registered and licenced as per any moped or motorcycle. The guy in d8veh's post seems to show a lack of responsibilty like a lot of these riders on mopeds, speeding and passing on narrow streets where an accident is waiting to happen...

    Brake upgrade. Mechanical or hydraulic

No one won't see bad performance. I changed to a front 4 pot on my Roadrat build following the replacement of the rubbish Tektro braking I was getting on the Ute. The Ute I changed both levers and the front calliper for upgraded M6100 servo assisted levers and 4 pot calliper but kept the 2 pot...
