Schwalbe smart Sam, terrible on wet tarmac!

Had plenty of knobbly tyres and never had an issue until these, since they've done a few miles they seem normal now. Today will be the test it's soaking out there. As for minimum rubber have you seen the width of some roadie tyres? I suspect it's more to do with the compounds used or the knobs...

Schwalbe smart Sam, terrible on wet tarmac!

Well the tyres seem a lot better now "broken in". The front does squirm unnervingly under hard braking though, as long as I don't need to emergency stop in the rain they should be ok lol

Schwalbe smart Sam, terrible on wet tarmac!

Struggling to understand why I find mine so slippy. Maybe it's just "new tyre" syndrome till they bed in

Schwalbe smart Sam, terrible on wet tarmac!

Yeah I think that's it, as soon as they went sideways they recovered well. Might just put something tackier in the front as I do wet weather fairly often

Schwalbe smart Sam, terrible on wet tarmac!

Might have been, in which case these are safer as I was able to recover by throwing my weight around. On the Vittoria tyres there was no warning at all. It's dry now so I feel a bit more confidence lol

Schwalbe smart Sam, terrible on wet tarmac!

I have them at 40psi like any tyre I run. Maybe a bit lower would help with these? They felt fine yesterday though, maybe where I slipped was greasy too. I've also made a conscious effort to put more of my weight to the front when I ride. See how I get on.

Schwalbe smart Sam, terrible on wet tarmac!

Vittoria booze lite, never had a problem with them before then, think the road was just greasy, the back was worn anyway so I changed them

Schwalbe smart Sam, terrible on wet tarmac!

I got a pair of these recently had them in the rain today. They are rather slippy on wet pavement, fortunately it's not the washout kind as they seem to recover well from going under but still damn! A shame as they are excellent in the dry and decent grip on hardpack and also very fast for a...

    Help! Removing bar end plugs

They are usually friction fit. If they're tight try a blade of some kind to gently work it off

New bike, motor towed up steep hill.

One thing that goes against the Pendleton is the type of bike it is, the geometry isn't right for climbing ability. My wife's bike is similar to it (chinese "xiongying") and even upgraded to 48v which is 33% extra pull the only way I can climb anything steep on it is by standing. My Carrera I...

My first off and it was a strange one

The husband is an arse none of his business he wasn't there. Sounds like a control freak. I had a tumble recently too, came off due to slick wet road, I'm ok but my bike came off slightly worse, ripped my panniers and snapped rear brake lever. Still we are both lucky at least our rides and...

    Crashed again...

This stuff just happens sometimes, but a little care and observation does go a long way. That's why I haven't had more accidents with some of the fools and hazards on these roads

    Crashed again...

I've done this same corner a thousand times, many times in the wet. It just wasn't my day. I will be taking it wider where the road is cleaner from now on. And yes a little slower, until my courage returns at least lol

    Crashed again...

Rode bikes all my life no "advice" could have prepared me for that. I have fell on black ice and mud in the same way previously, always been a no warning kind of thing. Only other crashes I've had were dumb stunts when I was a teenager

    Crashed again...

Had a nasty spill yesterday in the rain. Heading to work I hit what I assume was oil on the road, and to make matters worse I slid towards a drain cover so I really had no chance. Ripped my panniers and snapped half of my brake lever off, bars went wonky too but easily fixed. Not to mention I...

Ordered the wrong controller, will it work?

Also to add it ran without having to plug in the self learn so that rules out wrong phase combos as the last motor it ran was mine and mine works fine with a KT without doing anything

Ordered the wrong controller, will it work?

Have repaired my old brainpower controller I borrowed wires from and stuck that on her bike, all is well now. Guessing it's probably because of wrong voltage, in hindsight I should have tested her old 36v battery to verify. Now what I need is a KT 48v that is pretty small as my 20a model would...

Ordered the wrong controller, will it work?

Nah this seems to be a bigger issue as it's just not wanting to work, it seems when it reaches a certain speed it bugs out and starts acting like the halls aren't connected right. I have repaired my old brainpower controller so she will at least have a display while we wait for a proper one...
