    Lidl bike stuff

Those solder stations are brilliant Dave - far better than the Maplins 50W ones at twice the price, plus you get some solder and bits included so even better value. I've used it to do pretty much all my soldering so far and hasn't let me down.

New Light runs direct from battery.

I think they're moulded in and can't be removed without cutting them off, wurly. I had a go myself but concluded they were probably epoxied in or something. Any idea what screwed it ? I haven't connected mine up yet but have just finished making a dual output Deans socket off master FET switch...

What do you think of the bikes at Halfords?

Are they available in motorwheels now ? I spotted this on Greenbikekit .. wonder if it's the same as the ones BMS Battery sell and what's the difference in RPM and power between the 250W and the 350W rated versions (if any) ...

    Lidl bike stuff

Lol. They do take returns .... I tried the sports saddle at £7.99 thinking it would be good to fit one I didn't mind getting nicked - but felt like my man bits wouldn't last 5 minutes on it ! It's going back if I can get back up there ...

Heart-rate driven power assist ... Kalkhoff Impulse Ergo

.... unless one of those dongle things gets developed for Impulse and it's compatible with the HR system :). I'm guessing (hoping) you can select HR as a mode rather than not being able to get any assistance from the bike if you lose your chest strap - like on all those occasions you strip off...

    A good mount needed

It's quite chunky just to warn you and the case is lifted quite significantly by the large metal ball onto which the socket plate is screwed - I have mine mounted like this rather than on the handlebars : They do a plastic version that's considerably more compact and I use this on the Trek...

Heart-rate driven power assist ... Kalkhoff Impulse Ergo

I looked at those watches recently to use if I go trail running again when the weather cheers up a bit. I didn't realize you had to wear the chest strap to get them to work as well. It was a short-lived investigation ! They could call it a "pant monitor". PM for short ....

Heart-rate driven power assist ... Kalkhoff Impulse Ergo

Very interesting idea : Comment: When is a product super, not superfluous? | Bicycle Business | BikeBiz Motor assist is now proportionate to heart rate rather than pedal cadence or pedal effort. So presumably you get more as your heart rate goes through the roof trying to climb up that...

    Bosch vs Impulse

Some interesting points coming up on this thread . That's really odd - sounds like something isn't quite right with the tuning of your bike. One thing you could try is to multishift to a slightly lower gear than you might otherwise choose earlier on the graduated ascent and see if that...

    Indicator lights

Glad you got some positive use from them, Bill. Good idea about the elastic bands. I felt the same about the velcro straps and e-mailed them asking if they did any with longer ones, but just got a reply that they felt they were fine for most people and so "no".... odd as my wrist circumference...

    A good mount needed

These mounts are very tough and solid and the plate can be adjusted 360 degrees : Motorcycle U-Bolt Mount with Water Resistant Case for Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc The case that clips on is a soft one but if you change your phone in future you may be able to get a model for which a tough case /...

    recommend tyres size 37-622

I recommend these - choose the Schrader version - it works with your tyres and rim : Michelin A3 Protek Max Tube | Buy Online | ChainReactionCycles.com I use them combined with Marathon Plus tyres. It's about as much protection as you can get in a regular tyre/tube combo.

Another video clip of the iRoad

Definitely seems tadpole trikes are the way to go for speed and stability. I'd never really thought about them until very recently. But still seems a bit weird powering your way along with your bum so close to the tarmac ... think I might wind up getting a fit of the giggles if I got on one of...

I posted a response in there and got the same thing - but my post appeared on the thread the following day. Must have somehow managed to avoid saying something inappropriate

    CST - it's all working

In the 3rd photo you can see I had to flip the screw holding the extension arm from the seat stay hoop to attach to the main chainstay stand part from the other side in order to stop the kickstand being pulled in to touch the brake disc. I also glued some cut up inner tube rubber on the stand...

    CST - it's all working

I've spent some more time tonight fiddling with this to try to get it to work somehow. Prospect of £40 for a centre stand that fits the frame is incentive enough ! I've rejigged it a bit like this but not sure it's a long term fix as there's only about 3mm clearance from the brake disc at the...

    Lidl bike stuff

Some really good value stuff in Lidl .... missed out on the floor pumps unfortunately but a few bits in there : There are £1.99 (the 2 parts clip together) : .... or for £4.99 you get one of the above, some tube patches, 3 plastic tyre levers and a seatpost bag with quick-release clip and...

    How to keep warm?

The little blue ones ? I guess it's forgiven then ;) .. it's the windchill that gets you at speed. Got a Craft baselayer in the sale with windproof panel on the front which is really thin and light as a feather but works a treat. Wiggle | Craft Zero Extreme WindStopper Base Layer AW10 |...
