    Converting a "Fatty"

Thanks - very interesting and I've had a look at the sale ones. The two main features which keep bringing me back to the Moonlander are the 135mm spaced, 28mm offset rear-loading dropouts which are flexible as far as hubs are concerned and which easily accommodates the BFL 4.7 tyres without...

    Wisper battery charger problem

I think what d8veh meant was they are adjustable for any battery i.e. they can be ordered configured for use with any battery from a generic product rather than suggesting he opened one up and adjusted it himself. However any casual tinkerers reading this thread have been duly cautioned ...

    My new bike

Looks like some funky bar ends too ... Hans must have had an exceptionally exciting day ;) Are they Ergon ? Good looking bike that. Instantly recognizable as a quality bike. Like the vertical dropouts with that hub too - very sensible. Of all the bikes I've seen in that price bracket (other...

    CST - it's all working

Thanks Dave. I'll have a think about it and whether I can live without one in the short term. Having your cranks and bottom bracket off in order to fit a chainguard seems a bit radical... a lot of those guards get slated for not staying put and being prone to early damage which was why I ideally...

    Wisper battery charger problem

Or alternatively you could just fit the new connector to the charger yourself if you don't want to wait for a new charger to ship from abroad ?

    CST - it's all working

Still waiting for the Cycle Analyst - I'm not expecting it till next week as they said 7-14 days (it's coming regular Airmail and not posted till Friday afternoon). Still waiting on 2 x 9V DC-DC converters for the lights ordered 35 days ago from China too ... even my DealExtreme cables ordered...

    CST - it's all working

Got back tonight to a mountain of packages - but went to this 1st as not having a kickstand makes going shopping and unloading on your return a pretty hairy experience. Kickstand fixings were a tight fit owing to the chamfered stays but ... it doesn't blooming work :( .. The stand doesn't clear...

Home-made power strip for multiple tapping

Thanks a lot Mike - that's all very interesting and very helpful. Will be back working on the bike again Thursday hopefully so this answers many of my remaining questions and head-scratching. Can pretty much picture how it's all going to work in my head now and can get on with assembling my box...

Home-made power strip for multiple tapping

In principle, it looks just the job. The pre-spliced wire is GREAT - nice 'n' easy and pretty sure I can work with a 6-way. Shame you can't get those pre-spliced main wires separately - would be really useful in a number of things - but it's a really decent price for that package :D. What...

    Converting a "Fatty"

Are you thinking about doing a GNG kit on it then ? Not sure about having the battery sat high like that on the top tube. You might be able to get a LiPo pack built into the triangle or else a long thin battery boxed off in there but it looks a bit tight for any sort of larger battery on account...

Support stands (not bolted in) - like shop display ones

Then I guess I get to "shell out" for the welding safety gear and the replacement parts too .... it's a nice thought but I'm sinking under the weight of new tools at the mo (in every possible sense) so might be better off waiting till there's something more serious to buy it all for.

Support stands (not bolted in) - like shop display ones

Thanks - it's only for 1 bike as mine will soon be parted to live many miles apart.. so the single Velomann stand would do. At £18 it's not worth making your own - unless it turns out to be flimsy or too skinny an aperture between the hoops for a wider spec MTB wheel to slot into. However ...

Support stands (not bolted in) - like shop display ones

Looking for a basic heavy duty free-standing floor wheel support (or 2) for the MTB good for up to 2.4" tyres preferably, to drop my bike wheel into when being stored. Can use one for both front and rear wheels or just one for the front. It doesn't need to be bolted down as the place it's...

    Converting a "Fatty"

Congratulations :) ... a new home for the Durite horn in due course ? ;) ... Your thread on that inspired me and I got one lol. Gonna try to rig it up behind the seatpost on the Trek though, as I've had to accept that the front of the bike is already like something out of Star Wars :o ! Full...

    Converting a "Fatty"

Get d8veh on to this, Brian - If I get a car again in a few months time, I may well swap one of my bikes for a converted fatty to use for fun times as I won't need two. If the power supply to a dual drive can be sorted out to adequately service an affordable no holds barred setup with a sensible...

Home-made power strip for multiple tapping

How does that rig up, Mike ? Need to split black and red wires several ways and fuse boxes only looked like they were designed for routing multiple positive feeds across the connector pins each side of the fuse slots. 8 Way Circuit Standard / Mini Blade Fuse Box / Holder Universal With Cover...

Home-made power strip for multiple tapping

There'll be a mix of them and it doesn't seem "joined up" to me for some reason .. I've never seen a car or motorbike wiring loom disassembled to understand how they build them so maybe that's half the trouble. If I start soldering 4-5 wires together at one end then the likelihood is the join...

    DNP Epoch Freewheels..and gearing question

Remind me what the problem is with freewheels that causes people so many problems keeping up with the motor pedalling at higher speeds and delivering effective pedal assist in lower gears on hills ... is it the overall gear range pure & simple or the limited size of the front outer chainring...

Enthusiasm from thousands of miles away

Are you building something like these ? Utah Trikes Video - What is a Trike? I don't know if I'm understanding your setup at the moment but reading what you wrote about the drivetrain arrangement got me thinking about the construction of these bikes, which have a mid-mounted hub motor with...
