Just to add another question, are the snap link thingies likely to be a weak link :rolleyes: if I decided to use one? My system runs a boat load of torque through the chain.

Just over 2000 miles and my chain stretch tool indicates time for a change. I've counted the links on the current chain at 110. I don't want to use any of those quick links, snap links or whatever they are called. I just want to feed the chain through the drivetrain and connect the ends...

I think the equilibrium has been restored in the past few weeks. It would be a shame to lose another long term member :(

Could well be a faulty controller. Mine went a bit potty before it blew totally. Very easy to replace though.

Thanks for reminding me about Anker. I bought a laptop battery from them a long time ago, which turned out to be pretty good. Will check to see if they do a mobile battery :)

Trying to find a decent mobile phone replacement battery, is worse than trying to find a decent electric bike battery lol. Can anyone recommend a reputable company that manufactures third party batteries. The phone is a Nokia N8. Don't really trust any that are on eBay.

As D8ve says, they aren't too difficult to fit. I think the issue you will have is finding a full susser that can fit the battery in the triangle.

Might be a stab in the dark, but has the bosch system got one of those magnets on the wheel to tell the controller the wheel is turning? If it has, then that might be dirty or have shifted slightly, so the controller isn't picking up a signal and switching off.

The way I look at it is, without the custom chainring the bike would have been a pig to ride. I've now had 2000 miles of enjoyable riding, wheras it could have been 2000 miles of not having use of the 2 lowest cogs, plus numerous chain deraillments. The chainring has been an investment for me :)

I know they are on the pricey side, but fitting some Schwalbe Marathon Plus tyres wil be the best investment you could ever make on your bike. They are literally fit and forget tyres, and not having to deal with a puncture anytime on your travels is priceless.
