In the bike trade, yes, as far as I can gather. Emo Rider - who is in the trade - confirmed as much earlier in the thread. I think your Paris question is a good one, but hard to answer. As a customer, it is quite reasonable for you to buy your bike from your local authorised dealer in the UK...

There's a point to be made about the difference between the sale contract and the warranty contract. The sale contract is with the retailer, under that the goods must be of merchantable quality etc, so there is an implied warranty. A manufacturer's specific warranty - where one exists - is...

I used to work for a family owned Renault car dealer. From what I could see, all service customers were given a fair crack of the whip, regardless of where they bought the car. But differences did arise if a service was not straightforward. If we couldn't get a part for a car we supplied, we...

The more I learn about it, the more I realise the bike business is not like any other business.

Best bang for buck sub £1000 folding ebike with Throttle!

Assuming the wife will be using lots of assistance, particularly to start with, you need to consider battery capacity. A 24v 9ah battery gives about 200 w/h which will be very tight for 20 miles. A 36v 10ah battery giving about 360w/h would do the job in almost all conditions. Even then, if...

I've only had a brief go on the Yamaha, so am unable to make a valid comparison. I like the refined and easy to live with nature of the Bosch. Mine has been ridden by a couple of bike dealers who had previously only tried hub bikes. Both commented along the lines of "That Bosch is what an...

The Hard Seven in the link is on 650b tyres - 27.5" wheels - which will make it feel smaller than a 29er in the same frame size. Most of the German trekking ebikes I've seen are 29er, so the 52cm bike may come up about the same size as the 55cm Hard Seven.

He can't spell pedal, assist, and used the wrong 'discreet'. I gave up after 20 words. Seriously, looks like he is selling bikes imported directly from continental Europe. Nothing wrong with that, some bikes are cheaper over there. If he has the right bike for you - in the right size - in...

Do 2nd hand ebikes sell for sensible money? (ebay etc)

Fears of a knackered battery kill the value of older ebikes. At least you can truthfully say the battery on yours is as new. You can also say your internet chum RobF told you Bosch batteries have a longer service life than many other makes.

Best bang for buck sub £1000 folding ebike with Throttle!

Nearly 20 miles each way is a very long distance for a commute on a full size ebike, let alone a small wheeled folder. It will equate to about an hour and a half each way - too much on a daily basis and thoroughly unpleasant in poor weather.

How many people are using there e-bike off-road?

Definitely worth giving the Rockshox a thorough going over. At my more basic cinder track level, getting the bike shop to set the correct pressure and rebound (I think) in the forks made a big difference. The forks on the Rose are relatively cheap Suntours, so my experience shows that even a...

Myroons looks to be a lot of shillings. I suppose you could Foxify your 1964, but that wouldn't get you a carbon frame.

I am a 65 year old who has bought an electric TRIKE second-hand

Strange but true. Years ago I went out with a motorcycle instructor who demonstrated counter steering. To turn left, he told us to push gently on the left hand bar end, and do the same thing with the right bar to turn right. It works.

    24 vs 36 volt

Brommies have either a hub gear, a two-speed deraileur or a combination of both. A motor wheel and a five speed cassette won't fit and would be a nightmare to engineer. Mounting the deraileur so it doesn't scrape on the ground or compromise the fold is just one the problems.

The gearing on the trekking bike is a big attraction to me. You may not want 20 gears, but you will almost certainly be very glad of the extra range. One of the reasons for buying a crank drive bike is to get an assisted rendition of ordinary cycling. I like to spin up hills in a low gear...

    Looking for a reverse freewheel

Nicely thought out. Your design relies on two motors, but I think they will be needed anyway. My mother is an occasional wheelchair user - pushing her up even a modest incline takes some grunt. I doubt I could manage what one might term a hill.

    Looking for a reverse freewheel

So the wheels are to be mounted on stub axles. The wiring needs to face inwards on both because routing it across the outside of a wheel would be messy. Makes sense - assuming my assumptions are right. My next question would have been steering. Looks like you've ruled out a differential...

    Looking for a reverse freewheel

At the risk of appearing stupid... If the two wheels are mounted on the same axle - side by side with the cart in between - don't you want them to drive and freewheel in the same direction?

The NHS has lasted through many changes of government, so one might say it has proved more durable than its customers.

    Opinions Please.....?

Removing the motor is a workshop job, so not something you could do each time you park the bike. Easy enough to unclip the battery. I doubt the LCD display is easily removable - best check that with woosh.
