Put up with compromise or have a bespoke e-bike built for me?

I don't see how that helps with a lousy design decision.

    Brightest possible front light

Yeah; only don't use those Trustfire/Ultrafire ones if you value your house and home. Bloody dangerous things are often sub-standard or recycled junk. Same as their chargers.

Put up with compromise or have a bespoke e-bike built for me?

Bloody Hell, what a she ite piece of design that is.

    Motor & wheel size?

I fully agree. It burns me to see perfectly useable parts going into the scrap bin like that.

Using the motor as an anti theft device.

Tried that once; don't recommend it. :)

Using the motor as an anti theft device.

As I found totally by accident; if you're riding along before you've finished installing the battery (ie, unpowered) and the phase wires touch each other, what you have is an electric brake in effect. That is, the motor is trying to be a generator and putting one hellish load on the back wheel...

    Tomorrows Champions.

What they want to be is junior hipsters with fixies. With no brakes, they'll soon be ex-junior hipsters without fixies.

Shock warning! Should we ask for Registration?

You're overlooking the thickness of crims aspect and the "I won't get caught" scenario. Savage sentences have never been a deterrent - look at the crime rate in the 17th, 18th and early 19th centuries, where theft was punishable by hanging. Plenty did it, plenty were hanged and still others...

    Life in the slow lane.

400km of cycle paths? Looks like an interesting park layout. Hope the neds don't strew it with broken glass, as they are wont to do. The Wheel looks fascinating - really wish I could see that close up.

KTM wins Eurobike Gold award with eShopper carrier equipped Bosch motor.

Waitrose? How dreadfully infra-dig. Harrods, my dear chap.

    Brake cut-out > 1 wire

They really do extract the urine with the shipping cost and, as you say, the only way to make sense of that is a group buy or something similar. I'm used to seeing China-sourced components with cheap or free shipping when they come via ebay or DX, so I don't see why AliExpress can't do the same.

    Rocky Mountain Element Conversion

I only had to resort to a Napoleonic cannon because the original sidestand busted (cheap crap). I have a decent mid-stand, but the space behind the BB isn't quite long enough. Tell me about it: a few years ago a woman (who owns a bleedin' castle) asked me to quote for refinishing a large...

    Small summer journey

Out on the bicycle down the country lanes to the small town on a sunny Sunday afternoon. Ladies smile and wave at you, and you smile and wave back and say hello. Easy on the eye summer dresses, backlit in the late afternoon. You just don't get that in a car :)

Lovely casing job there, d8, unlike mine :)

The Tonaro Bighit and Cargo cycle trailer

Excellent setup - I've been meaning to get a trailer for ages, but didn't really know if the single wheel one was suitable. Now, I'm thinking it might be, but one thing the small twin-wheeled ones have in their favour is being able to be rolled like a handcart off the bike.

Very smart looking job altogether; well done.

It would be interesting to know how many of these highly-priced bikes actually sell.

Shock warning! Should we ask for Registration?

Yes, I well recall the first branch of Safeways opening up the road from us around 1964 - also my mother turning round to my father as they came out and saying something along the lines of, "And that's all it cost for a week's worth!" I also recall my folks (especially my father) turning the air...

Shock warning! Should we ask for Registration?

When I was a kid in the late 50s into the early 60s I recall seeing cyclemotors ppuuuuttttting around, but not that many of them and the last one I saw was simply dumped on waste ground as if the owner got fed up with it.
