    Cracks in tyres

Tyres with white or cream sidewalls have always crazed, in my use. Never bothered me and I've never had one fail.

    Keys reunited

It'd be even nicer if they signed up to pay some corpo tax.

    Knee injuries

I second the hot/cold gel packs. I totally forgot I had some and it wasn't improving very much, but improvement was immediate once I started using the packs. I found the hot pack alone, three or four times a day, was enough to make a huge difference.

    Opinions plse on SAD lamps

For the SAD lamp to work it has to be quite powerful or, if a smallish one, quite close to you and in your line of sight. My diy one is usually behind me, but it totally floods the room with light and there's no shortage of rays, man. Future's so bright I gotta wear shades...

    Bluetooth and mobile phone question

It came up either on here or road.cc a few days ago, and you're correct.

    Knee injuries

All this talk of knees has made my recent injury twinge. Nearly a month ago I was clearing out the workshop when a loop of heavy plastic pipe grabbed my ankle and wouldn't let go. I had one of those moments where I knew what was going to hit the ground first and had a choice to sacrifice my knee...

Raspberry PI - The ideal e-bike computer?

That looks interesting, right enough. The price of naked display units has plummeted in the past year, I noticed, but something like that with gubbins attached, is very attractive.

    Opinions plse on SAD lamps

I used daylight tubes - they're dead cheap, too. A fraction of the cost of fancy SAD tubes.

    Opinions plse on SAD lamps

To avoid spending money if they don't work for you, try this... I made my own SAD lamp, using a 4-lamp fluorescent ceiling fitting and packed 4 extra lamps into it, giving an 8-lamp total of 320W, iirc. It's bright, by gawd, it's bright. It seemed to work all right and before I knew it I was...

    Throttle compatibility ? (electrically)

That one says it's for LiFePo batteries so hopefully the LEDs on it will correspond with your battery pack state.

Raspberry PI - The ideal e-bike computer?

I'd be much more inclined to leave that hard-wired and weatherproofed onto the bike than a satnav or mobile phone, for duty as a glorified mapper, run recorder, etc. After all, a mobile is a much more expensive thing to lose than a raspberry pie. :)

    Knee injuries

I third the above points :) Exactly what happened to me - knee was troublesome for ages until I started leccy biking and the spinning really helped.

    Knee injuries

Hah. As part of an investigation following an RTA to me, I went to see a consultant. At first, he thought I was a public patient and was a bit arrogant, dismissive and offhand. When he read the notes properly, the penny suddenly dropped and he realised the insurance companies were taking on all...

Bicycle Lasers to keep drivers at bay?

They're just visible when they strike the road and would only be visible in the air if it was smoky. We don't actually live in a James Bond set, you know. :)

    Bluetooth and mobile phone question

Yes, it's quite legal to have hands-free conversations, but I don't do it, for even with h-f, as you say, your attention is split. I still pull to the side, or tell the caller to try later or I will call them. --------------- This is my opinion, but I'm not a lawyer, nor do I play one on TV: On...

Will e-bikes ever enjoy mainstream popularity in the UK?

Ahem... Olympic Village and stadium complex, East London. Plenty of noses out of joint there, and I didn't like the roughshod way the locals were over-ridden, one bit.

Will e-bikes ever enjoy mainstream popularity in the UK?

No matter what inducement the government offered, it will be a cold day in hell before I pay a penny road tax of any guise to use my bicycle on the road.

Will e-bikes ever enjoy mainstream popularity in the UK?

I'm reminded of the canal movement in the late 40s and 50s onwards. We could have squads of volunteers, not toting arms, but shovels, picks and mini-diggers and tar boilers, preparing and laying stretches of new cycle path here and there. The difference and great obstacle is the damned land...
