Check the permissions on your phone, android os, network op, browser, and other apps. They all have it and are legally required to hand it over in an emergency. Like if u were lying injured in a ditch, just able to dial for help, or, when Bobo has a brain fart! :D

Dahon Ciao (or similar Step-thru folding bike) conversion

They don't do their own Ciao mid motor conversion any more, but a Mariner instead. Trouble is it starts at 19kg & £1350 with 4Ah Bosch battery. https://foldingbike.biz/Dahon-Mariner-D8-Electric-White-2020

    Death by ebike battery.

Just out of interest, this guy has fitted 8 Leaf modules to a Flux e-scooter, 60v-ish? Lots of fabricating! . And another has 7 modules make 48v with 14s BMS, 66ah? . Are these pouch cells? And reliable now? Cheers.

Dahon Ciao (or similar Step-thru folding bike) conversion

Tempting, esp if battery could be shared with other kits, irresistible if its battery was 48v.

Would you pay £30 to save 1kg?

If that "Control" was a full display and had a thumb throttle as its mounting clamp, it would be a one-stop shop on the handlebars of an ebike. Even if left side only. Is it waterproof?

Wisper 806 Handlebar, Stem & Seatpost options

Not worth a separate thread, but cable wear at frame entry holes and their grommets may become an issue for Wisper owners. Also, Front Light power connector has started to pop out, may need glueing in, or has a retainer gone missing?

Would you pay £30 to save 1kg?

Thanks for clearing them up. I thought hub gears might benefit from the flexibility of 2 speeds to cope with hills and still be as efficient on level ground, but yes, with limited power, every gradient needs the right gearing. CVT hub motor anyone? Oops, more losses ! ;-) And I thought the motor...

"Overvolting", I thought you took a dim view of such practices Tony? ;) "Rotor spins twice as fast", does this mean twice the noise & wear?:( High rpm motors in 20in wheels are great for folders, don't mind extra odd kilo if it means bike will carry two, yes please!:D Bafang leak details of...

France new E-bike deristriction law 1 year in prison and a 30,000 Euro fine

Enjoying the interesting tangent things have gone off on (imho). But wasn't the gist of the thread about the ethicality of delimiting ebikes and/or the penalties accruing? Is it time to drop in a line about why other vehicles are not limited to the posted max speed? (stands back having lit blue...

Belt or chain, derailleur or hub?

Only handy thing about removing a derailleur wheel is one doesn't have to remove gearchange cable, and if it's a front motor, not the power cable either. So a double win, yay!

Belt or chain, derailleur or hub?

As a layman playing Devils advocate, here's a "from" €1900 front wheel motor ebike with cardan shaft drive, 7sp hub gear, there's also a belt drive model! Haven't heard anything about Beixo though & I'm deffo no expert. https://beixo.com/categorie/electric-bikes/

EBMA files an anti dumping complaint on chinese e-bikes.

As Bobo has recvd offer from a Chinese company to build HS2 much faster and cheaper, will each train be subject to anti-dumping tax, or will they be WTO level, haha :-) ?
