    KWhrs to charge a 36v 17ah battery

2A at 42V = 84W, so if its losing 10W, then its efficiency is 10÷84 × 100 = 0.119 × 100 = 11.9%, err Loss. Is that right? (i'm rusty at this, can ya tell?) Or Put power meters on mains and dc sides and see what the differ is! Mikel

Is this the begining of the rise of the Machines?

"The rise of the machines" maybe, or rather "The problem with machines" Is there any machine that can function without constant attention, including software 'updates' by humans? Or rather, could we afford one, if there were? The answer is.. "Sorry this application/your car/your implant has...

    Brexit, for once some facts.

Busy day, what? So Barnier huffing & puffing "UK cannot cherry pick best bits for Exit agreement". Excludes (Financial) Services Industry, the 80% of the economy, eh? "Hard Border if not in Market & Customs", despite also insisting "No Hard Border" Bbc "May to sign Trade Agreements during the...

    Brexit, for once some facts.

I remember Ca-moron-s wheeze of people working for nothing to keep their benefits. To which a comedian replied: "Torys ideas, eh? Imagine working in a shop where everything is worth a pound,....except you!"

    Brexit, for once some facts.

And didn't Bliar lobby for/get a subsidy for Mittal to buy UK steel production facility, the same person then lobbied US to put a high tariff on UK steel imports. Which didn't make sense, or did it? Now UK gov to put £3.8bn into steel industry while 'new' owners Tata put in (only) "£30m" plus...

    Brexit, for once some facts.

Fitting, coz to paraphrase someone else's joke re 'bugs': "After they drop the big one, the only thing left alive will be the cockroaches and..................................the politicians" . Course, a lot of the Par-liar-ment rooms would be kitted out with microphones for.. Interpretors!

I thought that the move to 'Qualified Majority Voting' was adopted by the EU to prevent individual countries from vetoing proposed changes? Mikel

    Government subsidize

Did i read right that the subsidy, tho agreed, would not be available for 3yrs. (2020)? If taking an entire group of nations out of the EU was supposed to be sorted in 2yrs. Why does a bike break take 3? tickled me:D NI, hehe, oh dear: "An MLA is on £49,500 a year after they got a £500 pay rise...

Think they clear them somehow. This blog may answer your query. http://www.aviewfromthecyclepath.com/2017/01/the-effect-of-snow-clearance-from-on.html?m=1 I put a studded winter tyre on the front, I'll see how it performs tomorrow! The "death" of the car, (as we know it)

Thanks, good reading, does acknowledge points like: Disproportionate high cost of low volume production vehicles; Difficulty of them getting an NCAP safety rating from cost and construction points of view; High Cost of starting up, (Enterprise Ireland mentions limit of €100,000 on help for...

The "death" of the car, (as we know it)

Thanks for that. Pity its only 10%, like the scrap tyre rubber used in road building, or car production even. Maybe industry has or needs a tax incentive to use it, esp when the tech needs developing. I seem to remember the use of scrap steel was blamed for cars going rusty!

Cheers, but can't get iplayer here : - ) unfortunately, site sees my IRL location and stops after short sample, hehe. I started wondering about these 'special' materials when "rare earth magnets" appeared. The name alone gives a clue. Pity Graphene hasn't yet lived up to the hype heard when...

    Brexit, for once some facts.

Paraphrasing TheJournal.ie : Unusually Sinn Fein backing Fine Gael , will "stand shoulder to shoulder", but only if it tries to keep NI in EU (or 'regulatory alignment' or whatever codename it has now!). While Tanaiste Simon Coveney of course just weasled with "Gov not shifting position...

The "death" of the car, (as we know it)

Apologies if its already been posted. Just saw on Click (bbc) that Tesla just turned on the worlds biggest Lithium ion battery in Australia. Wonder if demand for static battery storage, using lithium, will drive up the price for the rest of us, or bring it down? Mikel

    Brexit, for once some facts.

Would the trade 'agreement' likely tween UK & US may be indicated by the 300% tariff imposed on Bombardier in NI re C-series jet !? And An interesting episode of BBC 'Any Answers' today had an apparently experienced Ex-UK Customs chap suggesting that the "Trading Arrangements" had to be agreed...
