Any limitations on kit options for this donor bike ?

I understand what you are saying. Not an option.

    Rear light

Yes - that's the one !!!! Thanks. First it's Commuter Booster and then Commuter Light Deal that I have a mental block over ... perhaps it's the word "commuter" that my subconscious refuses to acknowledge ;) I can finally go to bed with all the loose ends on my mind tonight tied up and 5 orders...

    Rear light

Spent another 45 minutes trying to find an old post with no success ... does anyone else find the search function on here a bit lacking ? ! There was a thread not so long ago about rear lights. I need to get one for the Trek as it still has none. d8veh, was it you who posted about a decent...

Any limitations on kit options for this donor bike ?

Thanks for this passpato. At the moment I'm resolving the issue by not being in Devon at all and it's become clear that I'm likely not going to be able to move back permanently unless I get a car. I'll try to do more regular trips to stay with family and help out this year once I get a working...

Electric Conversion Kit, Which to choose? Compatible with folding bikes?

I'm sure others will note the exceptions and provisos, but on the whole my understanding is that carbon frames throw up a whole load of other issues - easier to work with dropouts on an aluminium frame for example. Plus an 8kg bike doesn't really need the added weight of a motor and battery...

    Hydraulic disk brakes - what's wrong ?

Tried the easy option first - didn't work this time unfortunately, d8veh ! Ben - went through all your steps and wheel is running perfectly now and brakes are extremely responsive. The pads or caliper must have come out of alignment, or something obstructing the piston movement I guess...

Electric Conversion Kit, Which to choose? Compatible with folding bikes?

It might also be a bit tricky to fit a battery on that bike unless you carried it in a backpack ? Do you definitely want a folding full-sus MTB for off-roading or would a folding hardtail do that would fit in a hatchback easily with the seats down / in an Estate ?

    Electric Bike Virud

Main problem with motorboats is all the servicing, and having to have stored and launched etc. It's time-consuming and expensive. I'd rather rent one than own one. Running them on petrol costs a fortune - if you can get away with liquid gas they are pretty economic. I don't think electricity and...

    Hydraulic disk brakes - what's wrong ?

Sorry to post this here but wondered if anyone can give me some guidance.... bought a bike with Shimano XT Hydraulic Disc Brakes (6" rotors) and derailleurs. I haven't dealt with disc brakes at all before and the few bits I've looked at on Youtube are mostly geared at mechanical disc brakes. The...

Best option for road and light trail use?

It's the best and most reliable hub gears you can get. Gear changing is via twist grip rather than via shifter levers. As you don't have any throttle issues to worry about this should be perfect.

Best option for road and light trail use?

I'm a confirmed hub gear fan. One shifter for one function and no cassette for chains to be jumping around. Not to mention 2 shifters for one function. Makes complete sense to me - more concentration available for other things like bike control, brake control and enjoying your surroundings...

Best option for road and light trail use?

Won't the 9-speed setups pair with a CST rear hub drive motor ?

    New Bafang 1Kw kit

I haven't seen a crank drive option for $99 though. All the 2000kw - 4500kw trail bikes in the US are hub drive : HPC WOLVERINE

    New Bafang 1Kw kit

I think that's a lot smaller than the MagicPie 3 one (according to the dimensions here anyhow : Magic Pie V3 Kit Rear/Front Wheel With Out Rim & Spoke | eBay Still a bit of a beast though. However, it's apparently 6kg as compared MagicPie 3's 11kg. That's a huge weight differential. Maybe...

    New Bafang 1Kw kit

Crazy cheap price - now US$160. Q11 48V1KW REAR Driving E-Bike Conversion Kit. - BMSBATTERY Hope those spokes are up to it !! More power is definitely not more cost it seems. I wonder what it weighs and whether it actually looks like one of those huge dinner plates screaming "motor" from...

Are Ebike Suppliers immune to Sales Fever ?

Steve You will likely need to tune the gears and possibly the chain / brakes a bit after the first couple of rides if the bike is posted to you (same as with any bike - it all "settles in"). It was so beautiful when I got it out of the box I was terrified to touch anything and had it down the...

Kalkhoff Pro Connect on eBay - Aberystwyth

Yes, that's a bargain. You have to add in the mileage to Aberystwyth I guess though ... so about £150 on top of that from anywhere any real distance away ! I kept the box 50cycles delivered my bike in so if I sell it in the future it can be sent by courier. Really frustrates me when people...
