Yeh thanks TD. New gear changers are on the list. I will keep two rings on the front because the ratio jump from 1st to 2nd is huge and leaves a big 'cadence hole', so I'm hoping that 2nd on the smaller ring will do for the hills here. On my Carrera I've kept two rings and I use it a lot to...

    Chain guard recommendations?

That would do the job except for having the pas sensor on that side, but it ain't as tasty as that Velo Orange one. Wonder if I could make it fit?

    Guest Bike Conversion

Thanks Nealh, as you say Q100h doesn't come with cst. So I'm gonna take D8veh prompt and go with a front hub, plus it'll make the Magura safe. So , after spending some time deciphering the BMS way of doing things, this is the list I've come up with: 1 Q100H front wheel (700c)...

    Guest Bike Conversion

Thanks guys. Must admit I was a bit concerned about weight distribution. Decided on a rear motor because we suffer from a lot of 'slimy roads' under the trees around here in Wales. I'm used to handling sudden traction loss on my front hub on steep lanes, but thought that a less experienced...

The plan is to convert my old hybrid for when my daughter comes to stay ( and anyone else who fancies a ride out with us). Although she's only 29 and a professional dancer, poor thing can't keep up with her old mom and dad. Cruel really tee hee:D So need to keep it simple and easy to ride for...

Woosh Big Bear - a good buy?

I concur. Pulls like a tractor. Solid build. Has my wife, not an enthusiastic cyclist, doing 25mile rides.

Cornish hills bike conversion with toddler

A geared hub motor is simplest/easiest conversion. I live in Wales and my Ezee hub handles all I ask it to do. These are not the cheapest but are reliable. Have a look for BPM or CST motors.

    Carrera Crossfire-E pedal assist

I think of it this way: With the power on it's like I've been gifted Bradly Wiggins' legs, turn the power off and it's just little old me. O f course the comparison feels like riding through treacle. Just shows how much the motor is actually doing. As my 'pedal legs' have developed, I'm able...

Hello - need help with a decision

I've never managed to run the 14Ah battery flat, it has more range than my bum! Most I've had out of it, on summer holiday in Cornwall, is 36 miles with plenty to spare. On a cold day around here, when my knees don't feel so good (so less effort from me) I've been down to one bar after 26...

Hello - need help with a decision

My own bike is a converted Crossfire 3. Before conversion I weighed the bike at 14Kg. I converted using an Ezee front hub kit with 14Ah battery. After conversion the bike was 28Kg BUT this was including panniers, carradice handlebar box, water bottle, Crivit frame mounted lock and lights...

Hello - need help with a decision

Hi G, Welcome to the forum. A quick look at the Cyclotricity says to me that it's not actually road legal. 'Of road switches', as they are called, are prohibited under current legislation. You can only use a bike with a motor rated greater than 250 watts on private land to which the public...

I saw another 2 ebikes today.

I had a Royal Enfield continental GT that ended up in the canal. Tradegy is, it was nicked while I was in the cinema watching Easy Rider. Life can be so cruel sometimes:(

Understanding the mechanics of different electric bikes

There is normally either a rotation sensor, on the crank or chain wheel, or a torque sensor somewhere in the drive chain. These sense the peddles being rotated and give instruction to the motor to drive. If there is a throttle, then, generally, this overides the sensor and gives drive when...
