    Dynamo...

I have an Alfine dynamo on the Rose. There is no discernible drag when pedalling. Decent lights, as others have said, so all-in-all a good piece of kit. Except - this is an internet forum so there has to be an except - it's fiddle to disconnect the dynamo when you need to remove the front...

Is it Legal to Ride a UK Throttle Equipped Pedelec in Europe?

If you are going to joke about mass murder of journalists, the least you can do is get the grammar somewhere near the mark. The plural of magazine is magazines, there is no apostrophe. This is fairly basic stuff, a child ought to know it. That adults don't know it shows you the billions spent...

    Daily commute

A commute is a journey to work, so when the OP said 10 miles, I took it to mean he had 10 miles to come home again. Clearly, if the total daily mileage is 10 miles, than a 10ah battery would be sufficient. But as trex has pointed out, there are other advantages to a bigger battery.

    Daily commute

A lot to be said for buying from a local retailer - any bike in daily use will need some fettling from time to time. The 10ah battery all but rules the Batribike out for your use. Doesn't matter what the shop's told you, buy that bike and you will suffer what we call 'range anxiety' sooner or...

    Daily commute

There are lots of bikes, but your requirements rule out most of them. Something from Kudos might suit, but they only have 10ah batteries, which could be a bit tight range-wise if you hit adverse conditions and don't feel up to doing much pedalling. The Big Bear is a good shout, it has a rack...

    bafang crank drive kits

I recently tried a 250W bafang bike and was impressed with the smooth power delivery and quietness. It seemed to me to have a bit less poke than my Bosch bikes, although opinions vary on that. In any event, it's easily cured by buying one of the higher power versions. Those may interest you...

Looking for e-bike for my wife

If you fancy spending the budget and want a quality bicycle, Raleigh and Kalkhoff can assist. The Raleigh Motus is a traditional English-style step through using the Bosch crank assist system. The Kalkhoff Tasman is a Dutch-style bike from Germany, where they tend to call them roadsters. It...

Looking for e-bike for my wife

Her size won't be a problem, but to make a sensible suggestion more info is needed about prospective use. How far does she plan to ride? On what type of surface? Is she able to put in some effort, or does she want a lot of help from the motor?

    Helmet camera recommendations please

Worth thinking about mounting position, particularly if you want to get some fun out of the camera as well. Helmet is fine, but tends to be a bit high - lots of footage of your front wheel. Handlebars is good, but may not get the footage you require if you are separated from the bike and in a...

    Oxydrive kits

Power on the trails and decent road speed. Sounds like a very capable set up.

And his undertake was rubbish riding. But other than those two things, his behaviour was exemplary.

    Cyclelife Electric Brighton & Hove

Good luck with the new shop. As regards posting on here, there is a trade membership - you will see some of the other traders identified as 'trade member'. I've no idea how it works, but presumably a few shillings changes hands. There's an admin/mod contact somewhere on the site.

    Oxydrive kits

Averaging 18mph on trails is cracking on. A hose down shouldn't do the electrics any harm, although I would go very easy on the connections. As I'm sure you know, too much water power is no good for the rest of the bike anyway, so your cleaning regime shouldn't change a lot.

Certainly was. On-road driving tuition is rarely well received by the person it's aimed at.

It's not clear to me who the cyclist is calling a muppet.

Flattened him with a tidy right hook, if a bit telegraphed. It is to be hoped the cyclist was not, as reported, shouting at the passenger to get off the phone.

Haibike FS AMT RRP £4150 Now £2549

Well done, Martin, nice bike for somebody. Although it proves ebikes are like cars - take it out of the showroom and lose 40 per cent of your money.

    Back to batteries..

I suspect the main reason for online sales is the ebike market is simply not big enough for a shop to survive on a traditional geographical area. Many customers, unless they have a shop nearby, cannot access their chosen model locally.

    Dynamo...

Charging the light while using it is not recommended by Lezyne for their USB rechargeables, so killjoy's idea may not work.

    What watts?

Frank, Thanks for your interest. What you say makes sense, and I couldn't spin the cranks at 120rpm even if I wanted to. Like D8ve, I also wonder how meaningful the ratings are. However, we have to work with what we have. Best choice for me probably is 500W.
