    Fast Legal Bike

I don't doubt any of the above. But none of these sums change depending on whether the injury is caused by a bike, ebike, dongled ebike or anything else for that matter. Many - I would say most - cyclists ride uninsured, so they are taking those risks personally. The reason they are content...

    Fast Legal Bike

Col, What do you think the insurance company 'coming after me' is going to do? Put me in prison? Shoot me? If I crash into someone/something my liability is just that. Say I scrape the wing of someone's car. I'm down for the paint repair - a fixed sum - it's not more just because I'm riding...

Giant roam xr-e electric bike size large

Not the best time to sell any bike. I think yours is a bit too dear for a couple of reasons. A buyer with £1,000 to spend can get something brand new that goes further and faster, albeit not from such a well-known brand. At £1,000 your bike is depreciated about 40 per cent, that's about right...

    Oxydrive kits

Nor have I to any noticeable extent. Any mechanical device can feel less perky when it's very cold, thicker oil/grease in bearings is one reason. Am I right that cold cables offer higher resistance? If so, that could have an impact, less current getting from battery to motor.

Col, I understand the situation perfectly well. KTM has been advised by lawyers not to sell S-pedelecs. My, that must have been a surprise given they are not legal. You are losing some sales because of this, so have embarked on a crusade to level the playing field for KTM. No problems...

    Fast Legal Bike

Col, I admire your determination to scaremonger, but that is all you are doing. Have you ever ridden a dongled bike? You post as if a dongle turns a 250W ebike into a Honda Fireblade. If only, all the dongle does is enable a relatively weedy motor, built for torque not speed, to whirr on a...

Back on the forum! Bosch modified battery update etc...

Well done on sorting the job. Those of us still in work spend a lot of waking hours doing it, so it needs to be right. Is your recelled battery higher capacity than the original? If so, you might consider taking commissions.

How many people are using there e-bike off-road?

I can't match Eddie for dirt - or cleanliness - but today's ride left me with a grubby bike. Hold on, what's that he's riding? It's a woosh Zephyr-B which recently landed courtesy of Hatti for review purposes. Fuller write-up in due course, but I'm happy to answer any questions now should...

    Eccentric rear light.

I remember those lollipop things. Quite a good idea, they gave the bike a bit of extra width and road presence from behind. More than one light is a good idea, but there are limits. Jonny texting motorist who doesn't see you is not going to see you however many lights you have.

    Newcomer to pedelec,

I suspect you have already decided on a huge hub motor, but I will have one last try. You don't have the budget to do it properly, and even if you did, you will end up with a dreadful contraption that is all but unusable. There are a couple of sensible - and quite perky - woosh bikes on their...

    When to scrap an e-bike?

Scrap men regularly tour the back lanes around here. One used to use a horse and cart, but he's now upgraded to a Transit pick-up. As others have said, they seem content to take anything metal.

    Newcomer to pedelec,

Wise words from flecc and Kudos Dave - so they should be, both know an awful lot about ebikes from differing perspectives. Your budget would just about get you a cheap hub kit and battery which you could fit to your full sus bike.

Haibike SDURO Cross/Trekking vs Cube SUV Hybrid 2015

Much chain wear is caused by the chain running out of line and scraping over the rear cassette during gear changes. A NuVinci and chain would be a durable and reliable set-up.

Using a lightweight generator to charge Bosch e-bike battery

I believe wild camping is legal in Scotland, but it is certainly frowned upon in England. Make sure your trailer is not very wide, many possible sites will be beyond A-frame gates, designed to stop motorcycles. When wild camping in England, you are usually relying on being unobserved, so you...

Haibike SDURO Cross/Trekking vs Cube SUV Hybrid 2015

I am sure you are right about maintenance. A chain and derailleur can always be fixed somehow, even if direct replacements are not readily available. Not so with a hub and belt. If nothing goes wrong, the maker of the belt says it will last about twice as long as a chain. That's not very...
