    I had an accident... AGAIN!!!!

^^ That's exactly what I thought. Spat out my tea laughing. Made my afternoon when I got to that bit in cwah's post... It's true London cabbies (especially minicabs) are horrendous to be around as another road user. I've no doubt Black Cab drivers' skills are well above those of many others...

    I had an accident... AGAIN!!!!

Bad luck there - sorry to hear you had an accident. I strongly recommend looking into membership of British Cycling. They have a free legal helpline if you're involved in an accident and will pursue claims for you. I know it won't help you this time but maybe if it happens again (although pray...

    E-motion Neo Xtrem

That's sounding much more promising :D .. if the Neo is managing to get away with being rated 250w is there any way to legalize the spec and get the same performance they are managing to achieve ? Has to be worth investigating ... The torque sensor / control panel setup sounds exactly the sort...

Any limitations on kit options for this donor bike ?

I suppose that rules me out of fitting it then - I'm no engineer and an enginner would probably consider me a tad ham-fisted (inexperienced if nothing else). It was just a final hope of being able to keep Alfine hub gears on a kit build without losing stability / safety via having to go with a...

    Brightest possible front light

If it's of any interest, I tried this light with the battery I got from C & B Seen with my 1-Led light CREE T6 1200Lm light (which I know is a decent battery as the light only needs charging every week or so and I have it on at least 3/4 of an hour a day). Run time of the 4000LM light on lowest...

Any limitations on kit options for this donor bike ?

Going to narrow this down ... if I understand it right, the fact that there are hub gears means a rear wheel motor is not feasible. Am I also right in assuming that a front wheel motor @ 350W wouldn't be suitable as too powerful ?

    Food for thought

Nothing beats being out on a motorboat. I'd do it every day if the weather was warm, funds sufficient and time allowed ! Prefer my bum several inches above the water preferably behind a boat ;) .. get my kicks on a wakeboard (thanking god the boat isn't going any faster !). When you see guys...

    E-motion Neo Xtrem

The above bike does seem to get some pretty good reviews and I'm interested in the system they use. The performance seems to come close to what I'm looking for in a kit-build. Can anyone explain the make-up of the system incorporated in this bike and whether it's possible to approximate it on...

Any limitations on kit options for this donor bike ?

Sorry if this has already been asked in another guise, but looking at another donor bike (26" folder). Are there any specific constraints / modifications needed from these specs which might affect choice of a kit system ? I realize the controller and battery need to be accommodated (still trying...

    LiFePO4 vs Li-Ion

Actually, to be fair, I had not noticed the point about life cycles on the BMS listings or earlier on the thread. It's a pretty fundamental point to understanding the trade-off on cost and weight of the 2 specific batteries linked. Not being a battery expert, I had also not appreciated (which I...

Car driver charged with manslaughter over London cyclist death

I didn't really consider the police in my comments - the person opening the car door without looking was clearly negligent.

    LiFePO4 vs Li-Ion

Thanks for the responses - I have a much better understanding now and the Kudos contribution was actually illuminating. Also very interested in that battery 'fuel gauge' display which seems to get round the perceived shortcoming of the LiFePO4. The battery is just as important as the bike (more...

Car driver charged with manslaughter over London cyclist death

Sadly easier said than done sometimes, especially so in towns and cities when there's a steady flow of traffic from behind. When you're cycling on trunk roads, often drivers force you closer to parked cars than you want to go by overtaking dangerously close to you. Try to take a primary...

    LiFePO4 vs Li-Ion

Hi. Can anyone enlighten me about the relative merits of this : 48V20Ah LiFePO4 Shrink Tube EBike Battery Pack - BMSBATTERY versus the much cheaper this : 48V20Ah Li-Ion Shrink Tube EBike Battery Pack - BMSBATTERY

    Battery Bag

That looks really good and properly robust (unlike most bags these days !). Discreet too. Nice find.

    Another cyclist death this morning.

That, my friend, is very true indeed ! The barneys in the car, turning round to tell the kids to be quiet, texting whilst pulling out at junctions in bust traffic closing every possible gap so cyclists can't get through (yes, Mr White Van caught red-handed yesterday evening - wasn't even looking...

Cost of winter/ice tyres killed it for me & why don't people help you when you fall?!

Really sorry to hear about your falls. Seem to have been a handful already now reported over the last month and coming off your bike is always a bit of a shock. Most places everyone always seems to have better things to do than help others these days. Except fellow cyclists on occasion ! It's...

    Cobra easy-fit 'snake' inner tubes

Sadly not in 20" - it's just 26" or 700C (28"/29er). A decent tyre should help - the Tour version which I've used and was great isn't available for 20" wheels but the same principles of construction are used in this one ...

    Cobra easy-fit 'snake' inner tubes

Nope. I'd rather fit these and go as far as you can (pretty much) to avoid the problem in the first place - at least until I can repair the puncture : Buy £6.48 | OneClickSports.co.uk - Sporting Equipment, Cycling, Clothing, Extreme Sports and more

    Road Safety Changes Poll

On the licences for life thing, I think one of the points is that despite many drivers never having sat a test (you know who you are !) they have sufficient experience to be qualified by way of same. Driving is a practical skill so I'd use the analogy of a student getting through a degree after...
