    Installing the GSM

The M33 nuts can be tightened with a pair of adjustable pliers. The main task is to remove your bottom bracket. Have you got a crank extractor and a bottom bracket tool?

    Floods in Cumbria,amazing reading.

Man made? agreed but we can't change the overall weather or remodel our towns that are already built over floodable areas. Farm land is the only realistic weapon we have to mitigate the damage to buildings and infrastructure. It would be much cheaper to compensate the farmers for the damage to...

    Floods in Cumbria,amazing reading.

floods will happen, no matter what humans try to do. The hill farmers who live and work upstream should be paid to manage flood waters on their land, that has to be cheaper than paying insurance.

    BMS Battery Problems!

you need to check the cell pack first. Pull the balance leads out, check the voltage between battery - and each wire, you should read 4.1V, 8.2V,... 41V If one of the block is too much out of balance, your BMS won't charge the cells.

    Floods in Cumbria,amazing reading.

PW writes a good story but like many journalists, he did a good job at looking for the causes but does not make enough effort to research the subject. Dredging does not stop the flood in Cumbria. We need to hold water back in the hills and stop pouring ever more concrete on or near river banks.

Is £800 enough money to spend on an everyday ride to work bike.

decent pair of tyres = £50, decent set of HDBs = £60 (Avid BB7) to £120 (Magura HS-11). Then headset, grips, the list goes on. I blame the LBSs.

I have just read this post: http://www.pedelecs.co.uk/forum/threads/ktm-macina-force-29.23273/ Stumpy150 reported the problem he had with his Tektro front disc brakes on his KTM Macina Force 29 including a ' trouser filing moment'. I would like to say that some problems (even rare) should be...

    Magura brake pressure switch

it is likely that the red wire is connected to 5V. You need to check with a multitester to confirm that. Connect the two wires from your brake switch to yellow and blue. Usually, the yellow is ground and blue is sensor wire, it could be the other way round but that does not matter, your...

Is £800 enough money to spend on an everyday ride to work bike.

that seems to be the case. However, I think the real issue of matching German build quality is not components. After all, you can cut margin and compete after you have made a good enough bike. But e-bikes rely on electronics. Key Chinese firms like Lishui and Bafang do not release their API so...

difficult to say if it's commercially worth getting the adapter made but there is certainly demand for it.

    12,7Kg pedelec

Hi Frank, your Radon Spire has a PF bottom bracket. Do you know if anyone successfully fits a BBS02 to a PF30 BB? BTW, congrats on your beautifully built bike. Mine uses a similar kit but based on a Giant Defy 5.

    Leaving the EU

I watched Guy Verhofstadt on BBC2 yesterday, he explains clearly why the EU needs ever closer political, economic and defense union for the foreseable future. @Lancslass - I don't see the EU as crumbling. The EU is the right solution for continental Europe, although faced with formidable...

I use the Tasman Impulse HS-8 11AH as the standard bearer for £1500 German bikes. I don't think you can beat that with a £1,000 Chinese bike. https://www.50cycles.com/electric-bikes/activity-e-bikes/tasman_impulse_8_hs_11ah.html Besides the paint quality, you have bespoke elements like their...

    Commuter Bike for hills

sorry to disagree with you Bob. CD is superior on hills. Saying otherwise is akin to saying that single gear is just as good on hill as a 10-speed gear system.

    Leaving the EU

YouGov have a poll on the EU referendum at 56/44. It looks like we are going to vote to leave the EU. https://yougov.co.uk/news/2016/02/04/eu-referendum-leave-leads-nine/ What now? Will there be a rush in the next two years before the doors close?

Warwick is an exception. He paid only £345 for his bike a year ago. This time, he intends to upgrade and is prepared to build and to spend up to £800 on the next one. He clearly caught the e-biking bug. Who knows, a year from now, he may up his budget to £1,000 which many of us consider the...

£1,500 is not a huge price tag for a good bike. I think it will if you can demonstrate better value for money.
