Bafang 250w kit died up a hill. Battery was fine. Any ideas?

Yes, very much so. I'm not sure I understand the question, but I think you are asking if 'some' voltage will make the bike work. The voltage we are measuring is really only an indicator of battery condition. 30-38v is not accurate enough to diagnose anything because 30v means it's a total...

Bafang 250w kit died up a hill. Battery was fine. Any ideas?

You need to test it again, with a fully charged battery. If it's good it will read around 41.5 volts. Anything else indicates problem.

Bafang 250w kit died up a hill. Battery was fine. Any ideas?

If it's a front wheel kit, then it's a hub motor. It would help us to help you if you post some pictures.

Looking to Either Build My Own or Purchase an Ebike

Look for a bike from a good brand: Trek, GT, Specialized, Carerra. Avoid: most Raleigh, most Giant, all Apollo, anything from Tesco, Trax Shockwave. There are many more. As for a kit, I've only ever bought my gear from BMS battery (google it), and I suggest a 500w Bafang CST with a 12 FET...

Looking to Either Build My Own or Purchase an Ebike

Unless you have very unusual requirements, then a BMX is not suitable. You don't want to go a long way on a BMX. The FS mountain bike is, err, 'unfortunately specified'. Lets leave it at that. A half decent s/h hard tail, a kit and a few hours work will get you a machine suitable for...

    Hi there. Lee from Brighton.

My Brother and family recently went through an adoption process. The authorities are (rightly so) extremely cautious about ensuring the most suitable family are selected. As part of this process they need to check out the extended family members, so a document is compiled detailing all these...

Cree bike light 18650 battery compatible?

Likewise, most of my 18650's are salvaged from about 6 laptop batteries. Most of the cells have been in rotation for 2 years, and the laptop batts were 4 years old when I got them.

Bafang 250w kit died up a hill. Battery was fine. Any ideas?

What makes you think the battery is ok? I say this because it could be a duff cell/broken weld. ...but it could also be many other things. Does it run after you charge the battery? Check all the connectors, particularly the ones that go from the battery to the controller, and the ones that go...

Clacking noise - Kalkhoff Impulse 2 motor

    It's not a feature, it's a bug.

advice on where to run cables please

It's mostly dependant on controller location (obviously) Here's what nornally do. Controller on seat tube: Run wires from bars with rear brake cable, then route underneath top tube, then down seat tube. From motor, leave a drip loop, then along top of chan stay, then up seat tube. I always...

Cree bike light 18650 battery compatible?

I would say yes, looking at the long positive part of the AAA holder. Voltage wise, 3 x AAA is about the same as an 18650, so no problems there. A good 18650 will be around 2600mAh, so about 3 times more capacity than AAA's. 18650's are about 18mm diameter x 65mm long if that helps.

should i buy the watseka e bike?

9ah of SLA is roughly the same as 4.5ah of lithium, so 12 miles is a generous estimate on such a heavy bike.

    Is 140kgs to heavy?

Hi Rob, welcome. I'm pretty sure you'll be fine, just take it easy in the half pipes :-) I'm not far off your weight, and I regularly tow trailers/kids. In the past I have ridden with my son on the bike. All on cheap (ish) mountain bikes. The only time I've wrecked anything was when I hit an...

More speed from BPM 36V500 26 Code 10

I'm running DMR motors on that bike, 2.4" as I recall. They are extremely 'tall'. As for measuring stuff, you need a watt meter between the battery and controller. They store data like max current, lowest volts, etc. http://pages.ebay.com/link/?nav=item.view&id=390932345418&alt=web

Hung for a sheep or lamb.....

I'm not embarrassed to say that I have also dabbled in the illegal. 1200w peak, 24mph. Also my least used machine, but bloody good fun. By contrast the machine I use most often is (roughly speaking, but probably not technically) legal. Top assist at about 17mph, not as much torque as a BPM.

More speed from BPM 36V500 26 Code 10

I think the quoted RPM must be at 36v. When I say 24mph, that will be on the flat, with a fully charged battery at 42v . Also, the tyres I'm running are so big that they are virtually the same circ. as 700c. You are correct that the more current you give it, the closer it will go to its no load...

More speed from BPM 36V500 26 Code 10

There's no code on the CST, it's wound for 270 rpm. Yes, mines in a 26" wheel. To work out how much your battery can give you will either need to take it apart and check the BMS, ask the manufacturer or suck it and see. Correct, to get over 24mph you will need higher voltage. Your other...
