How on earth does he get away with this?

I think its a conversation from YouTube.

    Car battery damage?

I've done worse to them and they have survived for many years after the event. I'd get a set of jump leads (£10, eBay), chuck them in the boot and risk it. Perhaps check voltage after a few days. Should be around 12.7v.

    Noob questions...Sorry in advance.

Many of those buck converters come with 40v caps on the input side. These will probably blow as soon as you connect them (mine did). Look out for a buck converter that can handle 50v at the input side, or has 50v caps.

How on earth does he get away with this?

It is interesting about those being negative. The idea of very low noise scramblers is something I've been pondering for a while. I too had a Maico for a while, and used it on farmland and derelict land when I was a teenager. I like the thought of kids buzzing around at organised/regulated...

    'Dead' Sirocco CDL

I think you are being a tad harsh on woosh here. You bought a second hand bike, presumably more than two years old, at a fraction of the (already very low) new cost. You had some problems, both Woosh and Trex have done quite a bit to try to help you, even though neither are obliged to. You've...

    Quick battery question....

'conditioning' is still recommended by some, but others say don't bother. I certainly wouldn't bother running it no load. I would charge it up, and just use it normally from now on. When all is said n done, if battery conditioning were so important it'd be done at the factory or the...

    What model/make is this?

Bikes like that got me into all this in the first place. I took one look and thought 'why does it have to be so fugly?' That one is a proper minger, but I expect its owner still gets pleasure from it.

    Smart Ebike

You can't recover energy at the start of a journey though. Where will you store it?

Looking for a good hill climber..?

You may be best off building something. That way you can have a throttle and whaterver motor/battery combo you need. The Oxydrive CST kit would be my choice if I were in your position. You can build a great bike for less than 1k.

Hi from the top of the hill

When you lift the wheel you are seeing the 'no load' speed. This will always be a bit more than the top road speed. 24/21 is about right. Different tyres will make a difference, but not much. You don't need to go thinner, just slicker. Big Apple, Fat Frank, City Jets all work well, but it will...

How on earth does he get away with this?

I'd love to hear that conversation with Direct Line. " Hi, I have an un-registered, non road legal motorcycle for which I don't have a license. It's not taxed, and it looks like something out of a sci-fi movie. Can you quote me for third party insu...." "CLICK...Brrrr".

Received eBike kit and Started Install

No, that's no going to work. Your existing brakes and gear levers are integrated, so the new ones cannot be used. Google 'Hidden Wire Brake Sensor'.

    Overwhelmed

You are over thinking this problem. Go and try some, then buy the one you like most. Simples. Whatever happens don't waste the coming spring. There are thousands of bikes to choose from. You'll be lucky if you get fifty summers to ride them in.

    motor testing

Your meter probably won't pick it up. Its complex, but a brushless DC motor (BLDC) works with a current going backwards and forwards through three coils. Another way to say this is 3 phase, AC. The phasing and frequency of the current is controlled by the controller in order to do what the...

    motor testing

It's quite difficult to mimic the throttle, because most controllers do a check when started. A short or open circuit will be picked up, an d throttle signal disregarded until reboot. Most throttles are supplied with 0 and 5v, and return 1-4v. I'm in Devon.

    motor testing

A 14a controller is normal for 250w motor. Most 250w motors can take a bit more. I've run them up at about 18-20a (around the nominal 350 watt mark) but obviously you risk wrecking it. I've not broken one yet. The other option is to take a 250w controller and 'shunt kid's it to get a bit extra...

what are these connecters called please

The 3 pin black ones are JST SM. The picture resolution is too low to work out the white ones.

    motor testing

You should be ok to run without hall sensors.

    Repair motor hall sensor

Or, buy a controller that can operate sensorless?
