    Battery Display Meter

that may be the problem, there are 24V and 36V versions and from what I've seen of them online they look identical...

    Battery Display Meter

could you somehow have ended up with a 24V meter on a 36V battery by mistake?

    1000 miles... / chain / maintenance

I took the Salisbury into the mechanics at about 2500 miles and the chain definitely seemed stretched then, they also replaced the block (but not the front chainring). As it appears from my previous thread that changing the block is a more fiddly job than on the Salisbury due to the large plug...

    1000 miles... / chain / maintenance

already passed 1000 miles on the Wisper 905 I got in September... not had any major problems other than replacing the tyres - but what maintenance should I be doing at this point? Should the chain be replaced soon? Hopefully my chain breaker tool has not got mislaid somewhere (I knew I packed...

Infineum vs Cytronex vs Sparticle - why still so few Infineum reports?

I can see how that could be very confusing. Ironically coming from an IT/electronics background I knew of Akther Computers (even as a young lad, as they supplied kit to high schools) long before Powacycle! Even so with all the IT stuff they do it would surely be a very simple task to change...

Infineum vs Cytronex vs Sparticle - why still so few Infineum reports?

IMO the delays in getting a reliable product to market plus its price point meant the Wisper 905 stole this bikes thunder. That said, I don't think the obfuscation was intentional - especially as Ultima networks (the parent company) is listed on the London Stock Exchange and all the links...

    Are ebikers saving the planet?

I personally think the "noisy protest" movement ran its course in the 1990s - and from discussions with the older generation including my parents who used to be "hippies" - I get the impression its effect had already been diluted in the 1970s when I was a little boy! IMO a lot of people got...

    Are ebikers saving the planet?

I don't think thats completely fair, politicians have at least tried to reduce population by causing two (and probably three now) global wars, scientists have created loads of CBRN weapons which if deployed could wipe out hundreds of thousands, and even eco-protestors and hippy hedonists...

Fooled in purchasing Wisper 905SE Sport old model

Wispers are indexed on the frame number, found on the front bit of the frame the fork goes into, this may be what Wisper are looking for to ascertain the age of the bike (and also confirm its a real Wisper and not a clone). The issue here is whether this model was sold as a 2008 or 2009 model...

    Are ebikers saving the planet?

There must be at least a third Wisper owner here, as David mentioned someone regularly riding to Ipswich (a 15-20 mile commute!) from the rural areas... they have done that before and still got nicked/hassled/kettled etc. the issue isn't so much what they wear/look like but that a lot of...

    Another battery issue :)

I think this is the issue - whether the vehicle is replacing a motor car and/or whether you have a petrol powered two wheeled vehicle or want to / are able to ride one - stuff like licensing and insurance also comes into play for younger folk especially, also the nature of your travel / work. I...

    Are ebikers saving the planet?

I ride from Ipswich to a Mid Suffolk village every day (I have a strange feeling you may do exactly the same but in the other direction!) Although climate change is more abstract, I notice every day the adverse effects of human behaviour and the excessive use of cars. Rubbish thrown into every...

Copenhagen wheel -what do you think ?

why don't they just make a "normal" "Danish-style" ebike? they could still put the GPS and other gadgets on it anyway..

Have you used this ebay seller?

24" wheel bikes are sometimes sold as kids/youths bikes in this country. People from South China and the hotter Oriental countries are shorter so they may be more commonly used there for adult bikes, particularly for ladies. (You do get tall Chinese people but they tend to be in the colder...

Sting operation sees stolen electric bike returned to owner

GT3 does have a point, but the wider issue is that a lot of people have double standards about crime, they want the cops to arrest people doing things they disagree with but leave them alone if they are driving at 50 in a 30 zone or cycling on the pavement or nicking items from work or smoking a...

    The Ridgeway Route:

Whilst not as spectacular a tumble, this is exactly what happened to me (at least twice!) going from the "Reading" end of the Ridgeway on an unpowered Dawes Horizon with 700c x 28 tyres (probably even more foolhardy).. As my target was a rave at Wantage (rather than trying to ride the Ridgeway...

    Are ebikers saving the planet?

I suspect e-bikes are also more eco-friendly than a "lycra's" bike at the same price point as they tend to get used more often for commuting in all weathers (many of the lycras actually drive to their races :D) Also the higher end e-bikes do seem to encourage a more constructive business...
