Difficulties getting an e-car, Part 2

I hadn't thought of those limitations, so that makes the car even more unattractive. Does the lack of spare wheel and inability to be towed affect insurance or breakdown scheme membership? You mentioned the environment. If we apply the, "what if we all did that" test to electric cars, the...

    Eyewear for Cyclists

I've always managed to make the Aldi glasses last. My current set must be 3 or 4 years old and a bit scratched, but that doesn't seem to make given any less usable.

Difficulties getting an e-car, Part 2

That £11640 price, by comparison, does seem to be very low, so maybe a mistake or ploy to generate a face to face enquiry. My colleague paid more than that for a 12 month old Leaf. Given all of the shortcomings of electric cars, I can't see them selling well, even at £11649. The battery...

Difficulties getting an e-car, Part 2

My colleague has just got back to me. The Office for Low Emmision Vehicles (OLEV) where offering 100% subsidies for home charging point installation and he had one installed under that scheme. Unfortunately, the offer has ended now. He already had electricity in his garage, so in your case...

Difficulties getting an e-car, Part 2

Don't most motorway service areas have free rapid DC chargers (20 mins to 80%) available now? PS I've contacted my colleague re home charging points. Waiting for him to reply.

I'll contact him today and clarify exactly what he did re home charging.

Difficulties getting an e-car, Part 2

I've not looked into this personally, but a colleague has purchased a Leaf in the past few weeks. He did quite s bit of research and at one point was talking about free charging point installation. Government sponsored scheme? I'm sure you will have covered this, but thought I'd mention it...

What do you think this is worth?

Yes, the old Panasonics are to EBikes what the Nokia 6310 is to mobile telephones :)

What do you think this is worth?

The OP's find was certainly better value than this joker's (Sorry if it's someone on the forum trying to sell it). http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Kalkhoff-Pro-Connect-s10-/172000890296?hash=item280c0d4db8:g:I4cAAOSwpDdVZ1X8 I'm pretty sure this bike was advertised for a lot more about a year ago...

What do you think this is worth?

Sorry, just seen this. As some have said, my 26Volt Pro Connect has about 23000 miles on it now. The original motor failed last year, I think, time flies. At 15000 miles the bike on ebay could be in the zone for a motor failure. I bought a new 18 Ah battery for my bike at the same time that I...

What's the Smart e-bike really like...

That's not been my experience with EBikes. I find lots of gear ratios to be unnecessary, but wide ratio spacing to be more desireable. However, I don't think that the 3 speed hub fitted to the Smart delivers the wide ratio spacing.

    Black Friday

I've tried to erase from my mind last year's images of hate filled faces and claw like hands grasping at obsolete tablet computers, Russell Hobbs Kettles and 2010 model coffee machines. It certainly was a Black Day for humanity.

    Black Friday

It's that time of year again when we must remember those killed or seriously injured whilst fighting over Blaupunkt 32" flat screen TV sets. We remember the sacrifice that they have made.

    Tools on this forum!!

Smart eBiker, why are you so unpleasant? Why would you want to insult someone who is trying to engage you in a topic that you initiated? It's not normal. Your behaviour is outside the boundaries of a polite social interaction. I'm sure that flecc is far better at defending his position than I...

For Forks sake, I need help!

Pleased to hear it. Whilst he's out there, get him to rip up and burn that ghastly decking too. It's so unsightly.

For Forks sake, I need help!

Quite frankly I'm astonished that you have entrusted a gardener to carry out such a safety critical job on your bike. If anything, and there are many pitfalls when fitting forks, goes wrong, the consequences will be serious. That lawn of yours looks in a poor state with scruffy edging...

For Forks sake, I need help!

To be perfectly honest, I would take it to the Daimler Mercedes dealer. I know you will end up paying a tad more, but it is a high end bike and one which a bike shop may not have the necessary skills to work on. Also, by going to the main dealer, you will preserve the bike's pedigree. As you...

Night riding with no bike lights

On the spot fines are no good either as they are offered as an alternative to prosecution. "Yeruman Rights" entitle you to a fair trial, so there is no obligation to accept an on the spot fine. And, since the CPS won't take the matter to trial, you won't be prosecuted. I agree with you, people...

Night riding with no bike lights

Having spoken to a policeman, he tells me that The Crown Prosecution Service are no longer willing to prosecute this offence. Therefore, there is no point in spending time pulling over cyclist and issuing tickets or notices of intended prosecution.

Just sayin' that's all. Edit: Didn't notice that D8Veh had been active again on Tuesday. Welcome to the forum. It's a friendly place.
